Autothrust override is not a good idea

I am getting all kinds of trouble with that system in place. It only works with physical thrust levers that actually move which is not the case with joysticks. We can only set dead zones at the end points of the throttle range, everything in between will suffer from fading, especially older throttles. If your thrust should be 60% for landing but the joystick keeps adding false commands of 90% or so, because that’s your last set physical position after takeoff, than you can imagine the trouble it can cause. Attempts to manually adjust the physical throttle to match the ingame throttles also leads to an unwanted override. I used to put the physical throttles to one third of its range before landing with autothrust, upon disengaging the autothrust i would retard the joystick to idle. Being able to deactivate that function in the options would be nice.

This very thing has got me but now Im prepared for it. I let the automatics take me to 12nm from the runway and then turn it off to manually land as that where the fun is.

But I used to forget the joystick throttle position which is still on the climb thrust setting. A perfect ILS is ruined as the jet roars to the stars.

Now I have memorized the position of the small thrust lever where it matches the correct N1 for an approach at 180kts and take it from there.
