Had a half hour to spare, so took a short flight in the Aero Vodochody Aero 45 from Launceston (YMLT) to Georgetown (YGTO).

Overnight, the weather changed, so not great flying weather for VFR aircraft:

Climbing through the murk:

Once above the clouds it was not too bad:

Seeing this break in the clouds, I decided to start my descent:

Weaving around rain showers:

Past the marina at Beauty point:

Georgetown should be around here somewhere:

Easy-peasey landing:

My reward for a fine flight:

Took the Beechcraft D17 out for a flight over the High Sierras. I departed from Coyote Flats (6JUYH) and headed south:

Climbing to an elevation of 13,600 ft. This shot was taken by Mt. Williamson:

Passing Mt. Whitney…:

To take in Ansel Adams’ “Range of Light”

Heading into the sunset, descending along the north fork of the middle fork of the Tule River to our destination for the night:

Sequoia Ranch (CA44) is down there, somewhere:

Hard to tell, but the landing stip is dead ahead…:

Don’t over-run the runway, or you’ll end up in the creek without a paddle!..well, actually the north fork of the Tule River: :upside_down_face:

A dusk flight from Telluride (KTEX) to Four Corners (KFMN) in the Cessna 195:

A light snow was falling as I prepared for take-off:

A rapid ascent - I’d prefer not to hit a mountain!

Still climbing:

Cruising above the Rockies:

Durango is to the left:

Descending over Four Corners:

On the glidepath to Rwy 25:

It’s been a while since I took the Condor out for a spin, so thought I’d brush off the cobwebs with a flight from Hobart (YMHB) to Launceston (YMLT):

For this flight, I took the Antonov An-2 out for flight from Georgetown (YGTO) to Killiecrankie (YKCK).

With a full complement of passengers and half-full fuel tanks, it was a slow climb out of Georgetown:

I followed the coast east to Cape Portland:

Then turned north to cross Banks Strait:

I was heading for Barretts Hill on Cape Barren Island:

Then across to Flinders Island in the distance:

Past the airport on the coast:

To finally land at Killiecrankie on the northern tip of the island, about 1 3/4 hours after takeoff. Note the snazzy color coordination between my jacket and the aircraft for the obligatory “end-of-first-flight-in-this-aircraft” photograph! :slightly_smiling_face:

Such a beautiful airplane, definitely on the bucket list of planes to fly

Nice shots! I’m definitely looking forward to getting into the Gee Bee’s, as one might guess from my profile picture. :slightly_smiling_face:

So, first up today is the Cessna T207A Stationair 8, on a cold, late evening Alaskan flight from Bethel (PABE) to Grayling (PAGX).

The plan is to follow the Kuskokwim river as far as Aniak (PANI), where we will make a short pit-stop, then head north until we meet the Yukon river in the vicinity of Horse Island, then follow the river north to Grayling. The flight should take a little under 2 hours, depending upon wind conditions.

Here we are, leaving Bethel:

Following the broad Kuskokwim :

The setting sun reflected off the meandering river:

Aniak. I refuelled here, and now am taxiing back out to the runway:

Departing Aniak, heading north to the Yukon:

Great Paimiut Island is in the middle of a bend in the river:

“You can’t get lost following a river…”

Starting my decent to Greyling, on the banks of the Yukon:

On final. There’s a nasty 22 knot crosswind to contend with:

Parked on the apron. Just in time, too, as the sun has now set. My ride into town has arrived too, I see!

OK, for the second flight of the day I’m back in Tasmania, still on the north coast, but this time in the Junkers F13 for a flight from Smithton (YSMI) to King Island (YKII).

Hmm. Live weather’s not looking that great, but the weather report says “isolated showers” so maybe I can fly around them:

Heading west over the mudflats around Perkins Island:

Following the channel between Robbins Island and the mainland:

Turning north over Woolnorth Anchorage for Hunter Island.

Passing Hunter Island Airport (YHTR). We head northwest over Bass Strait to King Island from here:

Grey sea, grey sky. Its easy to loose your bearings with no reference points in view:

Land Ho!:

Crossing King Island:

for a simple straight-in approach:

The terminal is another soul-less building built out of procedural blocks: :slightly_frowning_face:

Total flying time for this flight was 1 hr 17 minutes.

For today’s flight, I chose the Savoia Marchetti S.55 for flight from Cagliari to Olbia in Sardinia. I started at the Marina di Bonaria “Su Siccu”:

and after taxiing out of the harbor:

Took off and headed north:

At 5,000 ft I broke out of the clouds which thinned out the futher north I flew:

It was a fine view as by the time I was ready to descend to the harbor at Olbia:

Making the turn to approach:

A slight course correction to account for a change in wind direction:

I landed just past the harbor entrance:

Taxiing to the Marina della Sacra Famiglia

Beached by the marina:

Staying with floatplanes, my second flight today was in the Dornier DO J, from Ingham Airport (YINH) to Cairns (YBCS).

Departing Orpheus Island:

I headed north along the coast:

Past Hinchbrook Island:

Dunk Island:

The Cowley Beach Training Area:

Wungu Beach (in the distance) was my waypoint for my decent into Cairns harbor:

I had been flying up the coast with a tailwind, so planned a gentle 180-degree turn over the harbor:

Before making my final approach. Finding an area without watercraft was a bit of a challenge:

After taxiing in, ready to tie up at the dock at Cairns Marlin Marina:

Just one flight today, in the Ford Trimotor from Republic (KFRG) to Hackettstown (N05):

Took in the city sights along the way:

Then across the Hudson River & due west:

There’s not much to Hackettstown, just a runway…

… and a few buildings:

Todays flight: two hours from Boryspil’ (UKBB) to Berlin Brandenburg (EDDB) in the Antonov AN225 with a pit-stop at Okecie (EPWA):

Heading out:

Scattered clouds all the way to Okecie:

Pit-stop:

Back in the air. Not sure what’s going on with those clouds - looks like a major fire in the Bemowo suburb outside of Warsaw:

6/8ths all the way to Berlin:

Catching the glidepath over Erkner:

Looking good for my first landing in this aircraft:

Plenty of parking space opposite the terminal:

Next up - the Fokker F.VIIa/3m Trimotor Skis, so Antarctica seemed a logical choice to find some snow. I could have chosen somewhere in the Arctic, since this aircraft was designed for an Arctic expedition, but it’s summertime in Antarctica, and I wanted to fly in daylight - this aircraft has no landing lights!

I started this trip at Teniente R. Marsh airport (SCRM) - which is not in the MSFS airport database - encircled King George Island, and landed on the ice by Capt. Arturo Prat Base on Greenwich Island

Braving the Antarctic weather at SCRM without hat or gloves:

Heading out to encircle the island. The DEM has a number of anomalies around the island - here, the seaward-side of the cliff is missing:

Keeping below the clouds. I don’t want these engines icing up:

Another anomaly with the satellite data:

The strait between Robert and Greenwich islands, with a solitary supply ship making it’s way to one of the nearby research bases:

Approaching Greenwich island. Capt. Arturo Prat Base is behind the headland on the right:

On final. You’ll need to decelerate rapidly as you near the ice to prevent sliding off the far side of the snowfield & into the bay:

Landing on slushy snow:

Remember to park on a flat spot. Without any braking system, if you’re not on a flat spot & you cut the engine, you’ll start to slide - backwards if necessary!

Time to make a snowman!

First flight today was in the Junkers JU-52, from Mustang Beach (KRAS) to Brownsville (KBRO)

It’s a straight run down the coast of Texas:

We head inland over farmers fields as we approach Brownsville:

The water tower, about a third of a mile south-east of the NDB station, makes a great reference point for one’s turn into the glideslope for Rwy 13:

Parked on the apron. Another flight in an Aviator Edition aircraft under my belt:

And the second flight was in the Dornier DO-X.

It’s a cold winter morning on Lake Krasnogvardeyskoye (ULSZ):

Throttle-up for takeoff:

And we’re up and away!

Heading East and following the north coast of the Gulf of Finland:

Will take us to Helsinki. This is in the suburbs, just before we start our descent:

Helsinki harbor is ahead to starboard:

On final to land:

Touchdown!

Taxiing into the harbor:

Moored by the marina. Helsinki cathedral is in the background:

Todays flight: A late evening flight from Battle Mountain Airport (KBAT) to McDermitt State (26U). I departed rather late today, so most of the flight was after sunset:

My shadow on the AeroVodochody Aero-145:

Not the smoothest of runways for takeoff:

Twilight over Nevada:

First waypoint: Battle Mountain (KBAM)

Then northwest to waypoint #2 - Winnemucca (KWMC):

We turn north to waypoint #3 - Pine Grove (NV68, trying to follow US95:

Our destination - McDermitt State straight ahead:

The airport is closed, except for the night watchman aimlessly driving around in his vehicle:
