[Azurpoly] Dassault Rafale

In what circumstances would we turn the battery switch to “auto” instead of “on” or “off?”

There is a huge pilot manual available on the Azurpoly site…

I’ve already checked there. It says that the battery can be forced on or off in abnormal emergency situations, but it doesn’t mention the auto setting.

You just gave that info from a test video by someone else, right? You did not fly it on PS5 yourself?
I actually fly it on a PS5, no problems whatsoever, except the usual console things while flying, like very occasional loss of framerate for a very short moment, but that is inherent to playing this complex game on a console.

The answer is within the logic mentioned.

“Auto” is used for normal procedures (beyond shutdown for the “off” state most likely).

A bit of speculation but I think during flight the battery is automatically disconnected whenever it doesn’t charge as DC power is provided by the generators.

On ground, without engines running it could disconnect the battery automatically whenever it’s close to end up without enough voltage to start at least the APU.

In case of an engine failure it would automatically connect the battery again so the DC bus is not lost.

If that automation doesn’t work for some reason (due to damage) it can be forced to “on” or “off” using the other positions, depending on the actual case.

Same question.

May we have an answer about the release on others stores please ?

Was reading through the documentation and was curious. Shouldn’t the Rafale be equipped with a HMD for off-boresight targeting?

Wow, finaly a good Rafale (at a decent price), I waited 13 years for that, the one from Rolland Laborie was striked by Dassault on 2012, but It was already a good addon, great visual, great flight model and great avionics:

AzurPoly did a great work, reconstructing all the FBW system on their own, good job guys !
Hope a marine version will be released in the future

Is a paint kit inbound?

As far as I know, France still hasn’t bought HMDs for its Rafales. Also, if anyone wants to listen to an interview with a Rafale pilot, you can check this out. The topic of HMD procurement is touched on. https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/8Xua3049KJg

Podcast you linked is a bit old. Rafales are supposed to have the Scorpion HMDs starting with the F4 block so maybe too new for what the module is supposed to be.

Hello,

The AzurPoly Rafale is an F3-standard version, so the absence of the Scorpion HMD is perfectly normal.

The Scorpion helmet-mounted display was introduced with the newer F4.1 standard. So this is not a “missing” HMD that needs to be added: since they are modelling an F3-standard Rafale, it simply does not have the Scorpion system.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info.

This Rafale is absolutely beautiful and an amazing add-on! However, the custom FBW system feels a bit too restrictive during aerobatics.

When you try to pull off a smooth, coordinated barrel roll using combined pitch and yaw—just like the real Rafale Solo Display—the flight computer heavily dampens the rudder input at the top. It seems the code treats it as unwanted sideslip, which makes the maneuver a bit clunky. Hopefully, AzurPoly can loosen up the yaw limits slightly in a future update to make those dynamic aerobatic rolls as fluid as the real jet!

I would imagine that the aerobatics teams would put the aircraft FCS into manual when doing those types of maneuvers, but I could be wrong.

Good guess and thx for the idea

have you checked your configuration before ? if you try to replicate the demo , the jet need to be in clean configuration

yeah, clean config. Only some fuel
I will try to put the FCS in manual mode and test it again like @Chudamaru suggested :+1:t2:

You are not alone in your observations, and it doesn’t only occur during modest aerobatics or higher G ACM/BFM in turns.

Try an overhead break type approach or standard pattern: You will notice the same “side-slip” behavior during your turn ins. It does feel somewhat strange, but it is manageable. It doesn’t take too much adjustment once you get used to the “side-slip” behavior during slight climbing or descending turns, and you’ll be able to roll out on centerline without fighting the controls.

Since most previous FBW fighter addons seem to switch to Normal logic when you drop the landing gear (i.e. manual control), I figure it was a quirk in the flight model that would be addressed sometime in the future when a real pilot mentioned it to Azurpoly.

I’m not a pilot, and I’m used to Developers disregarding my feedback as result. I’m glad someone else noticed it.

Any news about the release on others stores ?
