2 tags are required: One for platform, and one for aircraft.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the Community Support section.

Yes

Which aircraft are you reporting an issue about? (Please also add the proper tag for it)

787

Which aircraft version are you experiencing this issue on? (You can find this listed in the Content Manager under the Aircraft Name)

Asobo

Brief description of the issue:

When starting the takeoff roll in the 787, I hit the toga button, which behaves like it should at the beginning. But every time at around 110kts, the engines suddenly start to throttle back because it kicks the autothrottle without a noticeable reason. So, I need to apply manual takeoff thrust until I climb out. At around 1000ft, the autothrottle starts taking over again, and there is no further problem.

Do you have any Piloting Assists on?
If so try with them off.
It’s not uncommon for the Assisted Functions to cause issues.

I use AI because of a physical disability

SU13 was fine

The EEC will calculate takeoff thrust, which will be indicated on the EICAS N1 gauge by the green line and the % value will be indicated in green above gauges. When TOGA is pressed the auto-throttle will take command of the levers and command takeoff thrust; the FMA will indicate THR REF mode. At 80kts the mode will change to HOLD – this disables the auto-throttle servos and leaves the throttles in manual control. Some hardware throttles create noise and the thrust can be inadvertently changed to the current hardware throttle lever position if not careful. To avoid this, it is important to have the throttles set manually to the green line on the N1 gauge before pressing TOGA. Once at thrust reduction height (by default, 1,500’ AGL), the auto-throttle mode will change back to THR REF and climb power will be set.

I use KBM mostly, and I know that this did not occur at all before the SU14 WT78X patch.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

Hi everyone, I used to use the 787 all the time and used the Co-Pilot to do the take-offs, but now, when starting a flight using the 787 from the runway, engaging the co-pilot, the aircraft just edges forwards very slowly, barely accelerating before lurching backwards. I believe that this is the same issue that this user is describing. It is very easy to recreate. Simply create a flight staring from any runway and engage the co-pilot. Would be interested in a workaround as this used to work fine and I am currently using the 777 as a result of the 787 inability to take off… Thanks!

glad im not the only one

What 777 do you use?

There are also two 787’s available as freeware.
One ( a 787-9) is available from Headwind, which is installed from their installer

The other is a 787-8 created by Kuro, available from Flightsim.to

You may want to try these since you are having issues that may not get solved quickly.

I work with HS and kuro as a contributor to both, the issue occurs on it too due to the bug being in the WT 787X systems and I can’t handfly msfs that well or for too long because of my physical disability, I have helped make them flyable for people with disabilities who need to use the ai co pilot to take breaks like I do due to physical exertion, those changes are in the HS 787-9 but the SU14 take off bug reported here, have grounded the 787 family in the VA that I run for pilots with disabilities, halting our long haul ops, this needs a fix ASAP

Update: if one spawns at rw or midair with less than 50 eng 1 goes crazy and after a while of eng 1 doing it 2 goes too, its not just takeoff

i can confirm as a person in the same VA as Kazane this is a issue that should be fixed ASAP long haul fights are important to the VA I hope this gets fixed soon i’ve been flying from 1996 in MSFS I love this Simulator but differently needs to be fixed this means a lot to us. i love this Simulator as a person being flying with CP all of these years.

I use the 777ER by Captain Sim. It flies fairly well although the fuel no longer burns off (although it used to).

update: its happening on LVFR Aircraft now and spreading to others

Unfortunately, there is not a way we are aware of to instruct the AI co-pilot to correctly use the advanced systems of the aircraft, it only knows how to use basic sim default systems and cannot properly interact with engines that have computerized engine management.

Until a more expanded API for the AI co-pilot is introduced, I do not know that we’ll be able to solve this issue in these aircraft.

LVFR uses Asobo A320N systems

Yes, I believe even those systems also include a bit of computerized engine management for the different engine mode thrust targets.

the problem never occurred until su14

Most aircraft devs advise against using almost any of the Assistance options. I guess the problems with compatibility will only increase, as systems are getting more advanced. So maybe it’s best to start looking for a work-around for your issue, rather than waiting for a fix.
If you need the co-pilot to do things for you, i can highly recommend FS2Crew. It works great, both with voice control and (semi)auto. Unfortunately it’s not available (yet?) for the 787. Only for the FBW A32NX, Fenix, PMDG and Maddox.
