Agreed. The same just happened to me, I lost everything (settings, controls, accessibility options, logbook etc…) after the Authentication/Insert Disc message on startup. I had very little time to fly this month and this basically prevented me from flying since I don’t have hours to dedicate for re-setting everything.

EDIT: SOLUTION UPDATE

After a few days of headache, I’ve finally got back my previous settings after the “insert disk/unable to verify license” error.
step by step guide:

  1. Delete WGS folder (BACKUP IT FIRST)
    AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_XXXX\SystemAppData\ wgs.
  2. Sign out from Xbox and MS store.
  3. Restart Windows.
  4. Sign in Xbox and MS Store.
  5. Start MSFS. It will sync from cloud and you’re ready to fly with your good old settings. (You probably still need to set again Graphics/Accessibility options).

P.S. In case you still have default control options, manually set your custom settings selecting them on the MSFS control page.
