Hello, I’m probably missing something very obvious but how do you set desired altitude for the autopilot? I can’t find a knob anywhere.
Unless they’ve made changes from what they previewed publicly about the G58, on the right hand MFD there should be a dial on the bottom left labelled ALT.
But there isn’t! I noticed the same thing. I know where the knob should be but there is no knob there. Report it as a bug.
Mike
Thanks, that’s what i expected based on a G1000 google search but it looks to be missing.
That definitely needs reported then, because in the video showing the breakdown of aircraft/airports in each edition you can clearly see the dial when it shows the G58.
Yeap…I agree…The ALT knob is missing on the Baron…
Glad it wasn’t just me wondering about this.
Glad I’m not losing it! I’ve submitted as a bug.
I’m in the SR22 and that knob is missing from its’ G1000 also.
Can confirm. Spent 10 minutes in flight trying to find out how to set the altitude until I figured out the knob is missing.
Oh that is what the issue is. I thought I was just too tired to see it yesterday night.
The SR22 has a seperate control panel with a keyboard right? Isn’t the ALT button on there somewhere on a seperate panel lower in the cockpit?
if it is the case then maybe the Baron has the SR22 type panel instead of the standard C172 type panel it must have.
Yes, the SR22 has a separate control panel and that is where the altitude select knob is located. There is no knob on the MFD and this is correct.
The Baron doesn’t have any such panel. There is actually a white circle in the lower left corner of the MFD where the altitude select knob should be. This is clearly a bug.
For the devs to see, here are some pictures.
I have found that when the Avionics are turned OFF, the altitude rotary know is blacked out / plugged (See Pic 1). When turning the Avionics ON, it turns white (See Pic 2).
Pic 3 is the way it is supposed to look like (not a Baron, obviously)
I have also filed a Zendesk Ticket (# 32839)
i am so glad i found this thread here … i was close to get crazy as i was not able to find the ALT knob aswell … well, its sad that this happens on an AC that you pay extra right … so i hope this gets fixed soon.
That’s what that is! I was wondering what that circle is supposed to be.
You could always press the available ALT button in the autopilot button stack upon reaching the desired altitude to engage altitude hold mode. The missing inner/ outer knob control helps with altitude preselect.
Or use the handy dandy keyboard shortcut…CTRL Page UP/DOWN.
Thanks for this! The Baron is my favorite aircraft out of the current lineup, but I was frustrated with the missing altitude knob. I Didn’t even think to look in controls for altitude hotkeys.
Same here, glad I found this thread. Forgot about the Keyboard command and am going to try and see if I can get the Saitek Multi Panel to work with Spad.Next. (works without much issue in the C172).
