Be the pilot not the plane in 2024

Seeing the trailer to the new sim with what could be avatar type pilots…I really hope the new sim will allow the user the option to start and end the flight outside the plane and able to explore a bit via an avatar in both 1st and 3rd person.

I agree, this seems to be hinted at. Also, some of the trailer shots show the pilot body while in the cockpit view.
I’d be really interested in having the option to ‘walk around’ both the plane and the sceneries, which can be incredibly detailed these days.

…but, I know a lot of users aren’t at all, and see this as potentiality ‘gamifying’ the sim, so I’m grabbing my tin hat and ducking for cover!

Since we can already use drone cam to simulate a 1st person view, and we can turn off the ‘show log book at end of flight’ to have access to the plane after shutting down, what additional elements would you hope to see?
Im curious about this, since most despite not feeling like its important to simmer, since its very important to do visual safety checks before taking off. The moment we get planes with persistence (Looking at you A2A) and solid damage modelling (we’re slowly getting there), this may have more value than many would admit

Avatars have long been a staple for Forzas Horizon and Motorsport. To the degree where your avatar can carry over from one game into the next.

You can already turn off the show logbook so it won’t end your flight

indeed, I mentioned it in my post

I would really love a pilot’s/avatar mode, but only if they implement in a similar way as in Star Citizen.
An avatar mode like Elite or P3D wouldn’t be bad, but it would be much less interesting.

Absolutely hope that we can have this.

Ever since Star Citizen showed us what is possible, I’ve thought of flight simulator doing the same thing. Whether the engine can support that or not is another thing though.

Adding that into a massively multiplayer type environment where you can play any role on the aircraft. Think captain/copilot, student/instructor, pilot/passengers, flight attendants, skydivers (as we saw), and all the other types of aviation styles shown and not shown on the trailer.

The future looks bright for MSFS!

As said in a different thread, i suspect those moments from the trailer to be cinematics from the missions (which is good). I would agree though, a 1st person camera to walk around & hopefully interact with various things like doors, storage, engines etc would be great.

I think they are wanting the FSRealistic level of FPV where you can move around with WSAD and look around with the mouse. Drone cam is janky and unintuitive even though usuable. Some people don’t mind it, others grew up on Doom and expect a certain mechanic to be a certain way.

Neither are “wrong” but until we get more info, speculation is all we have. maybe we’ll get to WASD in first person around the perimeter of JFK or look down at the world after virtually climbing virtual Mount Everest. Maybe we’ll be limited to as much walking as needed for a walk around. Maybe it’s all just cosmetic and only appears during a sort-of cutscene where once you hit Start or Play or Fly or whatever it zips you back to the cockpit like it does now.

I for one have more fun speculating and taking it with a grain of salt as opposed to what some have done and took a Teaser trailer as the gospel and took it personally. The above mentioned hasn’t been confirmed and all are completely plausible. But we don’t know what they’re gonna do.

Maybe the ejection seats will finally work in the military jets. Then one of you lot can come pick me up in your search and rescue helicopters after my Top Gun failure attempt.
