Airplane request for third party devs: Beechcraft Sierra.
This plane is pretty sweet. Known by some as the “Mini Bonanza”, it’s one of the more advanced models within the Musketeer family. The Musketeer was a simple low-wing four seater airplane designed to compete with the 172, PA-28 and similar aircraft. The Musketeer started off in 1962 with a 160 hp Lycoming O-320 engine, four seats, a fixed pitch prop, and fixed landing gear.

By 1970, a more advanced version was available, called the Musketeer Super R, later renamed the Sierra. It had a 200 hp Lycoming IO-360, the option for four or six seats, constant speed prop, and retractable landing gear. There were other models that filled in the gaps between the two, and the more simple Musketeer line of planes were produced alongside the more advanced models. This design of airplane culminated in the Sierra, which was competing more with the Piper Arrow than the 172.

Fun little airplane to fly. The nose gear retract was mechanically problematic because the entire assembly has to turn sideways so the nose tire would stow in its bay flat against the airplane. It had a relatively high failure rate. Emergency landing gear extension was accomplished by manually opening a valve with a special tool. One of the most important things I made sure of when training anyone on the airplane is that they knew where the tool was and that they did in fact have it.

That’s an interesting tidbit about the nose gear, not something you’d find in an article about the plane. That’s cool you’ve trained people in them!

i would love to see this plane in MSFS. I personally own and fly the baby beech (Beech B19 Sport) which is practically the same as the Sierra but with a Lycoming O-320. Also known as the baby Musketeer.
Flysimware are making a Sierra if I recall correctly

I would also love to see a Beech Sierra C24R (with Retractable Gear & Variable Prop Pitch) I personally own an actual Beech Sierra C24R 1979 (C-FBOC.) I am currently in the process of fully renovating it with WAAS Aerospace and Aviatech.ca in CYQB . The upgrade will include a brand new glass panel & and 3 axes Autopilots, a brand new paint scheme & leather interior: including:
- GARMIN G5 Electronic Flight Instrument for Certificated Aircraft
- GARMIN G3X TOUCH Certified
- uAvionics AV-20-S Multi-Function Display
- GUARDIAN SmartPanel for IPAD MINI 6 Mount
- GARMIN GFC 507 Digital Autopilot 2 Servo + Pitch Trim Servo + TO/GA button
- GARMIN GTN 650xi
- GARMIN GMA 245R
- Garmin GTR 20 Radio Remote Controlled via G3X Touch
- GARMIN GTX335DR ADS-B OUT TRANSPONDER (with Diversity)

Here is the design for the New Panel
The aircraft has a 200 hp Lycoming IO-360 (Fuel injection) Engine which is really reliable.
If anyone ever needs help and input from an actual Beech Sierra C24R 1979 owner to build a new plane in MSFS 2020 am all in!
The Beech Sierra C24R is an Awesome and very cool Aircraft to fly!
Cheers and Happy New Year 2023!
