That begs the question of which plane does the tutorials use. . .
With the significant caveat that I’m NOT a pilot, I prefer to fly GA aircraft, (Cessna 172, Diamond Katana, Rutan LongEZ, and occasionally in the IDEAL A5, or the small v-tail jet that some people really like), because it’s less complicated.
I bought, (and occasionally fly), PMDG’s DC-6B because of the automatic flight-crew that helps you with all the knobs and switches as it would be done IRL.
Mostly I fly “analog” (six-pack) aircraft - that is I hand-fly the aircraft with little or no auto-pilot, because I want to learn how to fly the aircraft before I learn how to (ahem!) fly the computers.
And my question becomes: “And what happens when the :■■■■: hits the fan and all your cherished electronics isn’t helping you anymore?”
When things happened like “The Miracle on the Hudson” and the pilots were able to “successfully” land an Airbus on the Hudson River w/o any serious casualties, they were able to do that because they were PILOTS with enough experience actually FLYING to know what they could, and could not, do.
