Behringher x-touch mini : What is the most user friendly and/or flexible way to configure it?

Today I got x-touch mini. Downloaded x-touch Mini-FS2020 and have can see knobs turning, buttons pressing just fine. Now I want to configure it how I want it.

I can see that I can edit the .json files and I understand the syntax and can figure out what the various values mean.

How do I find all the “variable” names for the events I want to assign to the encoders, switches, fader etc ?

Are there specific ones for 3rd party aircraft (i.e JF Piper Arrow III) or is there a standard list ?

Is this the most user friendly method of doing this ? Having flashback of spending hours trying to get something working because you used a colon instead of a semi-colon  ?

I see so much fun to be had with this bit of kit, it’s going to be a blast !

Spad Next or Axis and Ohs is the way to go

I have Spad Beta which is not free, but so worth it if you have Logitech products or the class echo kit and I download custom profiles

Thanks for that. I have the Logitech radio panel and I used the demo version of Spad until Logitech sorted out their drivers (the day before my trial expired !).

I will happily give them another go. I liked the software and don’t mind supporting developers

It works for all my stuff, The airbus gear the Logitech gear the Behringer the streamdeck. Its actively being developed. The beta version is the one I run, that’s only available to owners, but spadnext is definitely worth it.her is a video of creating some magic with the Logitech radio panel (4) Saitek Radio Tips and Tricks with Spad.next its from 2016 (part 1) - YouTube

I think they are all listed in the config.schema.json file if you scroll down a little.

If you do go with SPAD, be aware you may or may not need to have the Complete edition. I did so could use my Elgato Streamdeck with it, so making an assumption here.
