Hi. My general settings in the game menu are still the same, i have nothing changed. And the cockpit view on all other planes is fine, only the new Bell 407 is so bad from the beginning… Maybe a faulty camera.cfg of the 407? Can i change or replace this file?

To be fair the heli was impossible to fly and complaints are valid. The heli oscillates so bad there is no way to control it. I have flown helis in x-plane and FSX and never had a heli oscillate on take off.

Someone posted switching from Modern to Legacy and back to Modern fixes the oscillating problem. I tried it and now I can fly the 407.

Interesting, that must be the bug. I didn’t have to do that so my experience was different. I just did a full flight with it and it behaved as expected with all assists off and flight model to modern. Hopefully that bug gets sorted! Sorry for assuming a negative thing about others’ experience.

I will say for any user not sure if they have the bug or not, give that a shot. If you’re still finding the 407 to be hard to control, my only advice is to very, very gently use the collective when taking off. Too much power and I will lose control as well. That part isn’t the bug though, that’s to be expected. It sounds like the bug is when no matter what, it just uncontrollably yanks to the right or oscillates.

UPDATES:
So today, instead of flying I set myself to test(educate) and get a learning curve with the 407, here’s my input:

  1. without touching my Xbox controller (cycle), I was able to hover, this was pretty much all my test, lift off the ground hover, the heli responded well, stood on one spot, I was able then to move cycle to left and right, heli responded as expected
  2. for the pedals, I discovered that you need to do a very gentle touch , so if you press your left pedal, as the heli starts to turn left, you need to press just a bit the right pedal to stop the turn, something I noticed, looking at the pedals, they need to be align for the heli stop turning in any direction, again, the touch of the pedals needs to be super gentle, otherwise, the heli goes crazy and starts spinning without control
  3. something I notice, if I did take the heli for a ride, was this, after establishing my flight, elevation and speed, I noticed that after a while it felt like the controller loses latch with the Xbox (nothing to do with batteries issue here, or link connection) is something to do with the simulator, that I am not able to neither put/cut power, use the cycle, and eventually crash, this happened multiple times, where I have a great flying going and out of the blue, the heli does this crazy thing that does not responds, and enters into an uncontrollable spin and crash
  4. something I noticed, I am able to see wind vortices from other players, I haven’t touch that setting on my settings at all but they come and go (weird)
  5. One more time, I feel like Asobo put out this heli, 1/2 way development.
  6. I noticed on the assistance section, my controller device listed, but then random other profiles will show and disappear, not sure why
  7. many times during my testings, right in the middle of a flight , there will be a popup screen telling me connection was lost with FS, and after reconnecting, the heli would be unresponsive and crash will occur
  8. I can feel the pain of other sim heli lovers, as to when I was doing my hovering testing, I ould see them take off and run into the crazy spinning, that for certain is telling me that Asobo has not done a good job on this thing, still lots of work to be done for the 407 to be 100% flyable as if I took the Cessna 172 for a flight
  9. last, still feels like the speed of the heli is very slow compared as to if I would take any plane and the sensation of flying at 100 nots, just does not seen to be the same, something is odd there!

■■■■…I have been waiting this 2 long years just for the helis to become available in FS2020, and so frustrating to see such a beauty, but unflyable.

Pedals are great but not a must. I fly just fine with the z-axis on my joystick, although some ‘trim’ would be nice.

Hmm, you start without fighting the Torq with the pedals. Interesting.

I noticed an error. The collective arm does not work properly for me. I want to reduce the speed of the engine after landing, but it does not respond. I unroll the lever, but the engine continues to rotate at 100%.

Does it not work for you?

You highlighted the throttle and mention collective. The throttle on the collective really only needs to be worried about in terms of Off, Idle or Fly. Nothing else really matters as it’s controlled by FADEC beyond that. Once you land, follow the landing checklists and you’ll be good to go.

I want to reduce it on purpose. After landing, I want to enjoy the sound of the engine at 70% power :slight_smile:

What settings are those in the second picture from the top? The rudder?
I have the same X52 Pro but I don’t recognize those settings.
Are you using the twist grip on the stick instead of rudder pedals?

I suspect (but do not know) if in the real thing turning FADEC off would let you control that manually. Or for that matter, of FADEC is supposed to even do that :thinking: I’ll have to defer to anyone with real world knowledge of this heli.

You’re right. It is more comfortable and I can control it more precisely.

The helicopter in the video seems way more stable than what I’m experiencing with anti-torque assist off. If I slowly apply up collective to get light on the skids or in a ~1 foot hover, I have to also immediately put in a significant amount of left pedal to keep it straight. While it’s pretty stable and controllable once I get it in forward flight faster than maybe 20 knots or so, in a hover I’m experiencing what several others have mentioned, where it feels like a radio-controlled model helicopter without a directional gyro, where it takes constant “rudder” adjustments with any collective inputs and also slides around laterally/longitudinally (in a Foucault pendulum-like motion) if you don’t have your cyclic adjustments spot on.

I may have to try the switch to legacy flight model and then back to modern flight model thing to see if that has any positive effect.

I set the fadec switch to manual, but I can’t control the engine power.

Ok after goofing around in legacy last night for about 4 hours it was ‘flyable’. I switched it BACK to modern and this is cake to fly now, still a little goofy being slow and haven’t checked to see if trim can be locked in forward cruise. But what a HUGE difference.

So if it’s complete berserker, I guess the switch to legacy and then BACK to modern works. Flies like a helicopter now. I can’t seem to do anything with engine power either. I’m sure they’ll patch it at least to make normal cruise power/speed. Need to add some negative sensitivity curve to the collective around center(not dead zone-dead zones are definitely not for helis) the HOTAS detent makes it a little too jumpy right at the point of setting down because of the bump. Completely perfect flight that gets goofy in the last 3 seconds…
