Best 3 add-ons airports on your XBOX

I’m talking about Aerosoft’s Trondheim, yes. Interesting that it’s not running as stable for you. I really haven’t had any BS or CTDs so far. But I only bought Trondheim last summer. It’s quite possible that it was less stable before. Or I didn’t fly the airport quite so excessively with the drone.

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to make clear recommendations when everyone’s experiences often differ. But at least it helps if all the airports that are really bad or not running at all are clearly named here in the forum.

I can’t say anything about Tromso. But I would also be interested in your experiences.

I was due for a flight in the FSR500 which is fairly screen intensive, perhaps more so than the PMDG 737, so into SimBrief went ENTC Tromso (M’M simulations) to ENAT Alta (Stairport). To be fair, I haven’t flown into/out of Tromso since probably last year, whereas I added Alta late last year, a sale or two ago, and it is a very nice add on indeed! This flight CTD’ed on FLY so I rebooted. Moderate stutter on the ground in Tromso, so I kept my head inside and did not change views to taxi. Easy enough, it’s a small airport, and it was raining with live weather on. Smooth sailing after departure through some light icing enroute. Visual approach into Alta super smooth hand flying and on taxi to the apron. That’s just one flight but there you have it. Thanks for asking, this one was fun and long overdue for me.

I was really put off MM’s stuff by Liege EBLG, which was a total crash-fest (certainly pre-SU13). Definitely the worst airport I’ve ever encountered for stability — and that’s really saying something since I re-bought another poor performer (Northern Sky’s Juneau) post-SU13 in the hope that it would run better (which it does, marginally). To add insult to injury, it didn’t even look that detailed, although I couldn’t get a proper look due to the crashing.

I was very hesitant when buying MM’s Horta but it couldn’t be more different. But Horta is tiny compared to EBLG (and even ENTC).

Re Stairport’s Alta, that’s been in and out of my wishlist like a fiddler’s elbow lately! It looks nice but the ground texturing puts me off. They seem to do nice stuff, looking at promo images, but it never seems to be rated particularly highly on MP.

I see Xometry have just released Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Unusual to have two devs do such an airport in such a short space of time (Sierrasim I think is the other). They look very similar; be interesting to see whose has the edge.

Even though MSFS is crashing with some of these animations in SU14 on XBOX, I like the ones that give you a ton of extra scenery

KDCA: Beautiful detail, typically runs smooth, gives you a lot of Crystal City and a moving Metro train and it’s station. With DC scenery it’s a ton of stuff in one small area(including another 5 airports). DC Scenery currently crashes on SU14 XBOX

KFLL Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood. Really done up nicely/lots of static aircraft, fully detailed shipping docks nearby and a few staple extra buildings in the area including the Hard Rock Hotel. It’s my staple airport for business jets going ‘somewhere pretty’.

SBRJ Santos Dumont in Rio, doesn’t even say it in the description at all but it includes the entirety of Rio reworked, tons of extra buildings/ships even a gondola to sugarloaf. For some reason GS is loaded with ships there, every time you load on the ramp there’s moving ships going right past the airport. Not the most intensely detailed area/airport, but cheap for the sheer amount of additional items you get

ICAO Sydney/Kingsford Nice airport with a lot of Quantas love. Think I like it because it fleshes out the entirety of Sydney with the scenery ads. I do have an affection for that long strip of water between the runways for impromptu seaplane ops in the middle of the traffic pattern, Sydney just begs for seaplane activity. Seems to have more ‘back lot’ attention than average, great for helis as well. Pretty sure all that shipping/port detail comes with the airport too.

And the complete Vegas/KLAS package of course, but currently the city of Vegas crashes XBOX, another SU14 feature. Airport by itself runs like butter. Hero to zero for us on the 'box, just parking it to wait for an update, it’s not the first time it’s struggled with SU’s, there’s a ton going on there. When it works it pushes the limits of all scenery ads.

Paulo Ricardo’s airports tend to stay under the radar but they’re among the best. Some of the detail is revealed to be quite low-res when you get close up but, from typical pilot distance, it all looks fantastic — great weathering offers a really authentic feel.

Viracopos and Gongonhas are the same as Santos, in that they feature huge swathes of their respective cities. Congonhas is extra-special, being a downtown airport in every sense of the word — it looks so realistic coming in low over those custom city buildings! Unfortunately, all that detail means it’s not 100% stable like the previous two.

Sadly, stability isn’t the only thing suffering on Xbox under SU14 — some of the stuttering is incredibly distracting and it’s occurring in places it really shouldn’t (i.e. sparsely-detailed areas).

To follow up on a question above about KEWR (Dz), just flew in past RKBridger’s North NJ bridges and Samscene3d’s NYC Times with no stuttering on approach and just a brief stutter on the high speed turnoff of the runway. Taxi to gate without stuttering with live weather on in the 738. What can I say, still a favorite!

Just saw that NYC Times and KORD (FSDreamteam) will be updated tonight.

Just arrived at the updated KORD (FSDreamteam) in the Asobo 787, live weather on, blowing and snowing, auto land to minimums. Onset of stutter clearing the runway which became progressively heavier as I ticked checklist items and taxied the Dreamliner. This model really tests airports and systems, and it suffered as the weather and scenery loaded up the Series X. Su14 strikes again? An update that made things worse? Another flight or two may reveal the answer but there are lots of other fun places to fly as well. Cheers!

ENTC Tromso was updated last week and I was able to depart in the FSR500 with no stutter on the ground and only light stutter shortly after takeoff. Only one flight to be sure but a much better ride after the update, if that is what reduced the stutter. Who knows right? Cheers!

Just having a read through the above and thanks to EGHI/LEMG recommended from@JakTrax78 previously these are in the wish-list the other two on my list are:
EGPH Pyreegue
EGLL Iniscene
Will or do these last two run ok on the XboxX the only other adds on i use are the PMDG 737/8, Vulcan JS/F14 HB

EGPH runs flawlessly. Recommended with Orbx’s Great Britain North pack. EGLL is mostly stable but is quite stuttery post SU14 (whole London area is, in fact).

Back on my wishlist, then. In, out; in out; shake it all about…

EGLL and surrounds even stutter on my PC.

Yep. Definitely a SU14 artefact as I previously had no issues running Ini’s EGLL alongside Orbx’s London Landmarks pack. Have you also noticed the PG in central London now looks uglier than ever?

After the great experience with Malaga, I also bought LEGE from MK Studios during the last sale. I like it very much. The interior with static people and the landside are less detailed than Malaga, but from the airside everything looks very good. Unfortunately there are no static airplanes from LVFR. But even without static aircraft, the airport looks quite lively, mainly due to the amount of clutter on the apron. The performance has been perfect so far. No stuttering or BS. And the approach along the mountains near Girona is really beautiful. Yesterday I flew from Girona to Bilbao. A smooth flight from take-off to landing (rare enough since Su14). I can recommend Girona, but would perhaps wait for a sale.

If you are interested, I can upload a few screenshots.

For me, the newer airports from MK Studios are among my favorites. I now have Malaga, Girona, Seville, Lisbon, Dublin, Helsinki and Philadelphia. Helsinki and Lisbon are much less detailed. However, both are due to receive a major update soon. And the other five airports are all really well done and, on the whole, perform well. KPHI in particular suffers from SU14. But all in all, MK Studios is now one of the best developers for me.

I flew over London in the VJ a couple of days ago and it looked the same to me What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2) - #5445 by RagingWombat839 but I was at about 3,000ft and more focused on flying than looking closely at the PG.

Yes, MK studio is doing great. Dublin, is that V2 you have? I’m still on V1 and it’s doing fine indeed. Still on V1 because i refused to pay extra for something i already bought…

Yesterday i bought LFMT Montpellier airport form V Pilot Experience Sim because it has a flash sale and is 51% off. Not regret it. Performance is great, quite detailed as well. Nice " little" airport (ranked 11th in France) in my favourite Cote D’ Azur region.

I’ve got all their airports except Biarritz. Montpellier and Bordeaux are early ones and the detail was quite poor upon release (Montpellier in particular) — but Montpellier has already been updated to v2 and Bordeaux is imminent. They’re great performers and the detail is above average too. Definitely a dev who’s mastered proper optimisation, joining an ever-increasing list. As the sim matures, so do development techniques.

Great to hear Bordeaux has an update coming. It’s one of my worst looking airports (together with La Guardia) therefore I was a bit concerned about Montpellier but i saw it was a v2 already.

Yes, I have version 2 of Dublin. So unfortunately I can’t say what has changed. To be honest, I didn’t know that MK Studios had ever sold Dublin at full price in version 1.

I also bought Montpellier this weekend, along with Ajaccio. I also like both of them very much. Ajaccio (like Montpellier) is right by the sea. And next to it are the mountains of Corsica. It’s fun to fly to both airports.

Do any of you have experience with Simulacion Extrema? There is also a sale going on there. But the airports look very toy-like. And apart from Paulo Ricardo, do you have any other recommendations for developers for South America?

I’ve traveled to South America several times (in real life😃). And flights over Patagonia and the Andes are really great with the Mesh from Orbx. Unfortunately, this is a completely underestimated and neglected region for flying. The scenery is fantastic and the satellite images combined with the mesh data are (mostly) surprisingly good. I think it would be great to have some airports there.

As far as I’m aware, EIDW v1 was never released for Xbox. We went straight to v2.

I agree with you re S. America but unfortunately, with the exception of P. Ricardo, much of what’s on offer looks quite poor. Simulacion Extrema doesn’t look TOO bad but it’s not Ricardo quality. And like Exabit, RM Scenery and Geardown, they’re an unknown quantity for me. Despite the decent MP reviews, I’m not convinced there isn’t a bit of rating fiddling going on.

SLH will soon release their first S. American scenery, after concentrating solely on the Caribbean previously. That guy’s work is superb so hopefully there’ll be more to come in that area.

On a final note, Fly2High I see just released Cartagena, Colombia. I’ve had my eye on these guys for a while as it looks like they may have potential, but their file sizes are a bit off-putting and there’s very little community feedback available.
