Since Jorg claims they read every single topic, I’ll give it a try: Yesterday’s new banner feels like a slap in the face and pure marketing BS, further eroding any remaining trust in the honesty and transparency of the team.
What’s needed is not “embrac[ing our] feedback and improv[ing] the simulator for years to come” but a complete QA pass and the resulting fixes, as soon as possible. Especially in view of Xbox’s system auto-rejecting any refund claims with a bogus reason.
There are some cool features already in there, sure, but I’ve seen 99% of them only in YT videos because every single free flight attempt has been cut short by some bug or other before even entering the runway. The only time I have made it into the air was when I spawned on the runway.
PS/edit: I’m speaking as someone for whom (in Germany) the server/login problems seem mostly solved.
The aviation experience that our trusted partner Asobo Studio created alongside other first party development teams is the best we have ever made - Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator
You have to be %$#@! kidding me!
I have flown MSFS products since the late 1980’s this is the worse flight simulation experience ever once you take into account the technology of the day and promises made.
I tried to do a Helicopter Pax Transport flight tonight.
First the Airport was IFR - There was not a single cloud in the sky.
Second the ATC crapped out a number of times to the point by the end of the 20 mile flight it was not working at all.
Third the aircraft at the departing airport has no landing gear and were magically hovering.
Fourth I was punished for not using the ATC and also for not communicating with 3 airports that I allegedly flew over. I knew over nil - no airports!
Five the helicopter base I was to land at did not exist and was at river level and was nothing but a blurry mash of textures.
Six the flight plan on the tablet was in completely the opposite direction. the actual route was not mapped on the tablet at all.
This was just one 20 mile flight.
No Jorg Neumann you have released a game not a simulator and way too early.
The pilot performance evaluation engine is an embarrassment. Wanting you to stop on the wrong side of the hold short line when clearing a runway!!! Did they even let any actual pilots play-test this thing?!?
But steps are being taken by Asobo Studios to solve the problems. They messed up, but I have no doubt they will resolve these issues, but its going to take time.
I understand what you are saying and I think/hope you are right.
The issues here is if we do not clear stand our ground this will happen again and again. My it be the next SU or the next version 2028 oder 2030.
It is not ok to release a product in this condition. It does not change the situation if you take any step to fix the issue.
If I am buying a car I expect all parts to function on day one. There might be some hickups during the runtime, they can be fixed.
But if the breaks do not work the first few weeks, there will be nothing left to fix.
Don’t make the mistake of believing this is universal or even common. Been enjoying free flight since day 2 and getting started and into the air with almost zero issues.
What I’m starting to get a sense of is that some people had a bunch of scenery items purchased via marketplace in 2020 that are either causing the 97% bug or are causing bugs in game, and this goes a long way toward explaining why experiences with free flight have been so extremely varied – different people bought different stuff and there’s currently no good way to choose what’s trying to load-in. Apparently there’s a workaround with putting empty folders with the same names as the offending packages in 2024’s community folder, but you have to get the names right…
I’ll repeat what I shared in another thread. This morming I would like to have seen a transparent and brutally honest note. This would certainly calm down the churn they face in the past few days, as expectations would be set. A business update style would be better received than a PR bland note. Eg: no, trains we can’t. Next hotfix focusing on xx is expected by XX with a xx% confidence. This and this is under investigation and is unknown for now, we hope to provide more insight by next week .
the problem is that statements like this will only inflame the very situation that they want to de-fuse
ignoring the people that are having problems is not going to help
Have to agree. I refunded. Yes I had WOW moments, the new Clouds and Lighting made me smile. But so many new Bugs and old Bugs coming together and unnecessary design decision killing established functions.
Jörg saying the Problems where “completely separate from the simulator itself” like everything else is a milestone of aviation - that sucks. For me it feels like they lost control over the complexity of this project and try to cover that with new halfbaked features and countless aircraft. I’d rather have less features at a time but in higher quality I can trust. I cannot afford the time to figure out what works and what not, not again.
Literally the only thing I see as an improvement in this game is the clouds and lighting. Everything else is, at best, the same, mostly worse. I get the impression the clouds and lighting could have been done on 2020 and we would have a vastly superior product right now.
I don’t know how he can claim this is the best experience when they didn’t even bother to backport 2020 bug fixes that happened after they forked a branch for 2024 and started development. There are bugs, many bugs, in this game which were fixed in 2020. 2024 is a branched development line off 2020 (it’s super obvious), so there is no reason why they couldn’t have backported all those bug fixes other than their developers lying to them so they could be lazy.
This is the same thing I’m seeing with quite a few “high profile” streamers who continue to proclaim that MSFS 2024 is the best thing ever while ignoring on their own streams:
Stuttering
Blurry textures
Melted buildings
Solid clouds
Horrible default airports
Poor night lighting
Poor airport lighting
Poor AI behaviour
I’m starting to question the integrity of people I’ve respected and watched for a long time now because I feel like I’m being gaslit into believing things that I simply cannot see with my own eyes!
It’s one thing for me to experience it on my own machine and feel disappointed, but to see these things on someone else’s computer and continually be told it’s normal and brilliant and I’m nuts for not believing it is something different entirely!
Regarding ATC, if you are using auto-tune, the bug that you are experiencing is that the radio stops auto-tuning, however, if you manually tune the radio, the ATC will be working.
I completely agree with you, the last message just shows that they are absolutely disconnected from the community. This sim is the best experience ever?! I’ve paid 140 bucks for premium deluxe and the pc24 doesn’t even have any animations. Is that really the best you’ve done?.
Meanwhile in career mode, you’ll get a crash and a reputation nuke after taking the tornado research mission…that mission isn’t auto generated, it shows up for everyone at the same step of the progression, yet no one at asobo/microsoft was able of finding this bug during testing?
To make matters worse, they pretty much lied about having “91% traffic accuracy”, I’ve done full flights from LEMD and LPPT and I have not seen a single real world airline, they where all A320s or that weird A330 thing, it just looked like fs2020 traffic nothing else changed…Going back to career mode, they also have said that most of the default planes would be available in it, meanwhile I’m pretty sure that around 50% of the default planes are actually available in career mode. There is no A320, A321, A330s, 747. Nearly all of the premium deluxe planes are missing.
At least the lighting and airport textures look pretty, but man is this just a dissapointing mess
I agree.
The entire gaming industry has been like this for the last 5-10 years. The games are getting increasingly complex and the publishers are setting hard deadlines constantly.
It still doesn’t work properly, and complacent PR guff from the studio doesn’t make them look good. I’ve got a clean Gamepass install on Xbox, with no add-ons or bought stuff, with a Thrustmaster Hotas attached. I’ve got a 62m fibre connection with little pressure on it.
Despite that, almost nothing works properly, still. The Hotas throttle/stick controls were mapped backwards for a start. It still takes an eternity to load, or just doesn’t. The menus are horrendous and don’t appear to work consistently or properly. Flying experience, when I manage to get there, is woeful, with lumpy textures sluggishly drawing in, leaving the overall view quality looking like something from 15 years ago.
Not all of this is down to poor server provision - although of course as that is a 100% repetition of what happened when they launched 2020, they should have done better - and ultimately there is just poor delivery and QA.
Shambolic. If I’d actually paid for it I’d be really, really hissed off.
