I went to a 49" Ultrawide 5120 x 1440 from a 32" 2560 x 1440 - I definitely would not trade back the height for what I gained in width. World of difference for me.

A 32 inch monitor plus trackir would be a good sweet spot

  • Curved or not?
  • IPS or not?

No I don’t miss the height at all.

I went with the ALIENWARE 34" Ultra Wide AW3420DW, its my first dive in to 3440 x1440 gamming. My other monitor is a ASUS ROG PG248Q 24" which was running at 1920x1080, so a bit of a step up.

I only have a GTX 1080 GPU so I had to dial back a couple of setting’s from Ultra to High to maintain in excess of 30FPS in heavy area’s.

I now really need to upgrade my whole computer, but I am really enjoying the benefits I am getting from the monitor. I am going to wait for the GPU market to sort its self out and for ASOBO to finally decide where they are going with all these optimisation’s etc they are doing in terms of graphic’s. Hopefully by that time I will have saved enough to buy exactly what I require, though it does appear that could take sometime at this rate, but I am in for the long haul.

Yeah, I like it very much.
On another note… Costco had an Acer 3440x1440 at 144Hz just recently for $349… that was a steal.
They had 835 of them (online only) and sold out in a couple hours. (Co-worker tried to get one)

My scepter 35” arrived with no defects or dead pixels. Very happy with it. I like using it for daily web surfing and general use also. Color is great — so far I haven’t even touched brightness/contrast or color.
