Does anybody have experience with both the FSG and Blackbird PC-6? I’m interested in purchasing one as the MS version isn’t great. How do they do on FS2024?
I would go with the FSG one if I were you, it’s still in active support and once on the Marketplace it will be career mode compatible. The Milviz one is decent enough, but was made for 2020 and not supported anymore, they may make a 2024 version one day, but it’s probably unlikely.
To be clear, that would mean “don’t actually buy it yet” right? As you can’t transfer purchases into the Marketplace, and only the unreleased Marketplace version will be Career compatible.
Bit of a catch 22 here. Blackbird’s pc6 may not be fully compatible yet, FSG doesn’t look great …. Avangels video is worth a watch :
Personally, I’d hold fire at the moment. Each to their own though.
I’d second this and is the approach I’m taking.
Thanks folks. I forgot to add, I’m totally willing to hold tight and not bother for now. I appreciate the advice!
Yes, holding fire is probably the best option at the moment. The AvAngel video above was for the initial release, there have been quite a few updates since then, fixing some of these issues. I’d keep an eye on the actual FSG PC-6 thread, which is what I’m currently doing.
Just come across this thread, start at the end and read backwards.
They do seem to be addressing certain issues :
FSG seem to be quite active, they’re up to update 1.3.3
- wish Blackbird were doing something with this classic for 2024.
Maybe worth a punt after all ???
£20 over on Orbx.
I’ve also been impressed with their communication and changes - still going to wait for it’s addition on the Marketplace before considering it though, as Career would be a big draw for an aircraft like this for me.
Yeah, I can see that. I’m wondering if the Miltech mission hub will work with this. What I’ve read suggests the Mission Hub will worth for fixed wing aircraft as well as helicopters. And the PC-6 begs for something like that.
I haven‘t tried the FSG PC-6 yet as I‘m waiting for its release in the Marketplace (so that at one day, I might be able to use it for career mode). But I really love the Blackbird one and use it regularly in MSFS2024 apart from a rare bug with the HSI going off course (and due to a lack of controls to manually adjust the slaved gyro, no way of correction the issue), it works and looks fine. But I consider it being abandoned by now, so FSG might be the better bet.
That will be quite sad if it is abandonware.
But surely, they can’t abandon an aircraft this good/ respected in msfs 2020.
I would not call it abandonware as the product works quite / is completed so there is currently no real need for Blackbird to do anything. But of course one can always dream of a native 2024 version one day.
Any ETA for the FSG one on MP ?
Is anybody flying Blackbird sim pc6 in 2024, if so, how are you finding it?
In addition to Haslepat’s comments above
I’m still in 2020 so can’t comment.
Actually flew it yesterday on xbox, only issue I noticed was engine oil temp gauge skyrocketed and stay there for my arctic short flight.
I use it in 2024. Flies very nicely, looks very dated.
