I’m looking to try my hand at seaplanes in MSFS2024, however I have no clue which water airports are good. What are your some of your favorite water airports addons, paid or free, that you find a lot of fun to take off from and fly into?
I created a bunch for 2020 in New Hampshire and Maine that I have to check if they work for 2024, but, they should(?).
Not an FAA approved water airport as it were, but, it’s real and as accurate as I could make it from Google Maps/earth
( ME22 - Avery Field, Rockwood, Maine for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS A small private land locked airport near the above airport, although it is next to a river)
2 seaplane bases on Moosehead lake, and two more airports on/near Moose River in Maine
This is an airport that no longer exists that I used to love flying out of. Its story is sad, it really should still exist, but, somebody dragged their feet and a developer got a hold of the land despite the wishes of the town when the airport owners passed away. The town had agreed to take over the airport, but, the correct paperwork to block the sale didn’t get filed. Then the developer went belly up, but, sadly, the airport was now gone. Last I knew, the hangar is still on the property. The property is now owned by the Hilton’s. A beautiful airport, with associated sea plane base and docks (I think the seaplane base is actually still kind of active) to take off into the sunset in summer. I landed there a couple of times when there were some dog sized deer near the runway. I didn’t come close to hitting them, though.
I have a bunch of airports I created around the White Mountains, too, that I haven’t released yet. I got stuck on how to manage releasing the airport services and world files to keep buses and fire trucks etc. from running around on the fields. I have files for it, but, installation of it can be confusing.
thanks for the thoughtful post!
