Best Xbox / gamepad style controllers? Lack of desk space for joysticks

I don’t have an Xbox or any console systems.
I have the MS-Store edition of MSFS on PC.
I have used a T.16000 (single joystick-only) as well as a RC transmitter.
The T.16000 has enough buttons, but I still have to use my mouse and keyboard. And I find the T.16000 too bulky for my desk, I am a casual player.
The RC transmitter, I have only got the 4 main axes and one other channel working I use for gear. So I cannot do trim or flaps with the RC transmitter. I find the RC transmitter more precise than the T.16000.

Could an Xbox-style controller be better for a casual PC MSFS simmer that doesn’t like the desk-bulk of the T.16000?

Which gamepad controller provides enough buttons and stability with PC MSFS?
Is “Elite Series 2” or the “Core” version any better for PC-MSFS over the standard Fourth Generation (2020) of Xbox controller?

None of them have hall-effect axes right?

How about third-party-brand game-controllers?

I like landing fixed wing, flying helicopters. Are there any gamepads good for helicopters? There should be a non-springing “throttle” for the collective, and weak-spring cyclic analog stick.
