FYI. The latest FS24 betas have efficient WASM pop out instruments.
On my Fenix A320 I can popout PFD, ND, and ECAM horizontally on a 24in monitor, with almost no FPS drop on the sim 24in display.
Along with WinWing FCU, MCDU and EFIS it all works nicely, when the Fenix has finally loaded. Mouse use has dropped dramatically.
So I’m focusing on flying now, getting the hang of climb, cruise, descent via the MCDU. Currently cheating with CAT3 autoland, but 140 passengers survive and I haven’t bent the landing gear!
When I’m familiar with the workflow I’ll start hand landing from say 200ft and slowly improve further from the runway.
I have an old quad core Xeon and gtx1080ti, so the potential of multi monitor cockpits with a modern PC are finally good.
I am sending this email (and probably representing thousands of other MSFS 2024 users) as a long-time multi-monitor user of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024. I am raising a serious concern about the current MSFS 2024 multi-monitor alignment system.
In MSFS 2020, monitor alignment could be performed accurately and efficiently using clear, live visual references. In MSFS 2024, however, the configuration interface intentionally blurs the outer render windows while adjustments are trying to be made. This makes precise alignment nearly impossible. Users must repeatedly exit the settings menu to check changes, turning what should be a simple calibration process into a frustrating trial-and-error loop. I am not alone in this frustration as I have seen this issue raised numerous times in Chat Groups with no solution offered.
For those of us who invest in dedicated three-screen cockpit setups, proper geometric alignment is not optional. It is fundamental to realism and usability. The current UI design prevents accurate alignment and represents a significant regression from MSFS 2020.
On behalf of many users I respectfully request the following improvements:
Disable the blur on the outside/flanking render windows while in multi-monitor configuration to allow real-time adjustment without the present visual degradation.
Provide a sharp, static reference grid or alignment overlay
Restore functionality comparable to MSFS 2020
Thousands of serious simmers rely on multi-monitor configurations. I’m asking that this issue be prioritized so the simulator can meet the expectations of advanced users and cockpit builders.
I appreciate your continued development efforts and hope this concern receives prompt attention.
I found a work around to setting up MSFS 2024 for multi-monitor use by using the MSFS2020 settings. If you still have MSFS2020 installed follow these steps below to implement.
Go to c:\users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Packages\Mircosoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
Edit “UserCfg.opt” file in notepad
Copy the lines that begin with “WindowCustom0” and “WindowsCustom1” under the “Video” section.
Go to c:\users\{username}\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
Open the MSFS2024 version of the “UserCfg.opt” file in Notepad
Paste the contents in the same location as the MSFS2020 version was.
Save the file
Launch MSFS2024 and go all the way through loading an aircraft so that you are ready to fly
Because everyone has a completely different video card(s)/monitors even if I were to publish the actual setup from my rig, it may not work on your rig. (Note: I don’t take any responsibility for this not working on your rig or causing other potential issues).
I just went and rewatched the MSFSOfficial September 2024 Developer Stream, where they explain the system requirements for PC (Technical Q&A chapter starting at the 19 minute mark)
Although not mention in the written specs, Seb and Martial explain how the 3 levels are for a single monitor, and aim to achieve 30 FPS!

Seb says that he is running 32 GB and you only need 64 if you run everything Ultra and have other things running, recording, etc… (ha). It’s clear they did not contemplate mutliple monitors. I’ve just submitted a Wishlist item to add recommended specs for multiple monitors to the official FAQ / Specs page, hopefully this will help bring attention to supporting triple screens.
Multiple Monitors ist great… what about Nvidia Surround and such for blended and merged beamers?
Technically it works, but as the render ist obviously focussed on an 16:9 aspect ratio, you get awful distortions when in 32:9 or even more extreme aspect ratios. Those make speed and distance estimations completely wierd.
Pattern training gets a nightmare then.
There ist a separate thread regarding the extreme distortions here as well.
I just bought a second 1440p monitor to match my main one and running a 2 monitor setup and I see almost no degradation of my smoothness or graphics when I turn that 2nd monitor on. I think from what I’m reading that it’s the 3rd monitor that pushes MSFS over the edge. Also could be if someone is trying to play at 4K. My computer is mid-range in terms of hardware. Using TAA and 300/150 LOD with a number of Ultra settings.
The problem is how they implemented it. The game is essential rendered three times. They should have looked at sim racing titles on how it is done properly, they have had it perfected for years. I don’t see this ever being fixed. They always avoid the question, even about why they blurred the screens when in the menu, makes it impossible to line up your extra monitors. The only way this ever gets resolved is if console start supporting multiple monitors. Sad but true
While I fully agree the blurred screen is ridiculous, I don’t believe that sim racing code would help at all for the MSFS developers. We are talking apples and oranges here with the complexity. The sim racing graphics have the advantage of being a closed world. All the features we have in this sim means that the coding would probably blow your mind as to what it takes to open up new features or even find the balance of performance and features users demand.
I have to disagree with you here. The only difference is the size of the outside world; rendering triple screens from a cockpit view is essentially the same.
Hi, sorry to begin this way, but I am sure that support for multiscreen in MSFS2024, has been designed by the enemy. I am a home cockpit builder, not professiona, and I am not pretendig to enjoy of a very professional setup. But can anyone from Asobo/Microsft think about 5 min how it would be possible to configure my three 4K monitors? There is no way to do something similar to a good configuration, except by using slew mode and the process never ends well. By far. And in addition to this, can someone fix the issue that swaps my two external screens? Why are they interchanging their positions sometimes?
Well, I am sure that XBOX market is more prioritary to the business, but are you going to let us, home cockpit builders, down again? MSFS2024 can be the GOAT, but how about smarter and easier configuration procedures? Multiscreen is the worse, but not the only. It goes along with device config, dual cockpit support or library management.
With all my respect, could you do us a favor? Give us good support for multiscreen.
Thanks in advance.
That statement is completely untrue. A racing sim has a pre-defined world you can exist in and rendering is far easier for not only multiple screens but a single screen as well. We have the entire world in this sim and you can pick any spot in it for your flight. The code must go to multiple sources of information to determine how to draw a frame while it’s doing all the other things as well, unlike any game software which relies on a very specific set of boundaries. Rendering triple views once you have that data is not difficult but that entire process in MSFS takes a huge amount of processing and needs to fit into the allowed time to draw those multiple screens.
So crazy, that that was postet back in Nov2024 and it’s still an issue. I’m having an Odyssey G9 49" Widescreen and everything what I can tell it that the support of those ultra Widescreens is a total mess and also by MSFS there isn’t really a support for this. Everything we have is a Zoom Level to adjust Zoom and then you can set Camera height. No front and backwards by default and so on.
I think that is something that MUST be on the List for fixing this because when you Zoom out a bit you immediatly get that fisheye perspektive you’ll never had in real life. So please Asobo/MS fix this!
We as the user pay nearly hundrets of Dollars, Euros and whatever currency out there to you and then getting a graphics experience which is some kind of a nightmare, when buying an ultrawidescreen to avoid nasty gaps between your screens.
