I read that someone was able to change his settings to ultra after installing today’s Nvidia driver and had great performance on an i7 and gtx 1070. So I tried it with my similar rig and he was right. I can now fly out of LAX in 747 with scattered clouds in evening and the performance is smoother than ever. The only thing I changed was putting all the slider settings to 100.
Same here, i7-7700k + 32gb ram and GTX1080ti
Not even overclocked.
Yes. I have i7 8750 32 gigs ram and gtx 1070. I’m wondering if for some reason msfs preforms better on mid to low systems than it does on high end systems. Those with high end systems seem to be complaining that it’s worse.
There’s other threads going around that seem to indicate certain settings levels are not visually as pleasing as before. Did you notice any visual quality degradations after the patch but before the driver update? I’m having some of that and now I can kind of see why FPS is better now.
i got 3 more fps after new driver with my R5 2600X 32gb 3200mhz ram and a 1070 at 2 ghz
Also, what resolution? 1440 or 1080?
I have same specs and can run ultra 1440 on Bush trips but not with airliners or crossing cities. Then I run high on 1440. I’ll probably update the driver soon
I’ve heard that visuals are worse now but I haven’t really noticed. If they are then yes, that could explain the improvement in performance. Ms/asobo wouldn’t do something like that would they?
4k at medium reset
Resolution at 1080
How to improve FPS, options:
a- performance test, profile, and improve optimizations
b- lower the amount of things that the system needs to handle
c- both
d- ?
So it is one of the levers they could pull to improve the low end systems. I don’t think they would intentionally do it for all but based on their track record of releasing fixes, they very well could have introduced it too broadly or it’s just a bug.
I highly doubt it - it would go against their entire visual marketing status quo. I’m not doubting there’s some isolated issue with the update that has affected visuals (mine look as great as they did before, but LOD seems to be loading in a tad slower). There’s a lot of ingredients in the mix that go into performance, especially with so many differing PC components, it shouldn’t be surprising to see some issues crop up. That being said, the Nvidia update certainly has made a difference (paired with the glass cockpit update) overall.
I agree they wouldn’t take it out of the game. Maybe lower it for certain settings or systems.
But they very well could have messed up the execution of it.
They… actually did reduce drawing distance.
Perhaps, but that doesn’t degrade what the sim looks like when the environment is drawn. In any case, reporting to Zendesk if people feel it may be a bug is the best course of action at the moment.
Some combination of the new patch and new driver gave me about 6-8fps on my 2060S. But shuddering is significantly reduced
I have a RTX2080 Super and I don’t see an increase in FPS while running in 4k, tested over Manhattan. I also do not have everything on ultra, some settings are just high and levelers at 100. On the contrary with the new patch and/or driver I’ve got a FPS drop from 34fps to 17fps after flying around for about 5 minutes, this never happened before.
