I’m against releasing without traffic. As others have said, it could bog them down in post-release issues, meaning traffic gets delayed, or worse… goes full FSS.
On the other side of the coin, they probably need a shed load of beta testers…
But this is only if they allow it to happen. It is not necessarily the case, just because they release it.
And even IF this happens, it only means that bugs will be ironed out that else would pop up after the final release, so these bugs will bother everyone instead of only those who decide to buy the early release.
So those wanting the full package and are willing to pay will benefit from a more polished product.
My conclusion stands: “I see no benefit from making everyone wait”.
One of the major factors that affect immersion is the fact that you hear and see others being vectored in and out of the airport. That being absent is not great for me - I will hold off in that case. Voted accordingly.
I voted for early access but only with traffic. It’s such a key part of the BATC concept that I’m concerned that if they release builds for actual sale without traffic, it might ultimately end up changing the direction of development because now they will have paying customers who want whatever they don’t like fixed right now or else, early access or not. I really don’t want to see that happen.
It’s gotten quite testy on the Discord, but it seems likely that it’ll be a landslide for ‘shup up and take my money’.
Some people are arguing that it will hold up development on the full project due to devs’ time being spent on answering queries and following up on bugs
Exactly, everyone’s allowed their opinion, I don’t see anyone specifically saying, “No, I don’t want it this way, and neither should anyone else.” It swings both ways too.
Ultimately, BATC will make the decision on what they want to do.
Personally, I don’t care much about traffic. I just want to do a proper controlled IFR flight using only my voice without having to rely on VATSIM controllers’ availability and praying for them to not log off before I finish my cockpit preparations or reach my destination.
I’m having a lot of fun with the FSiPanel scenarios where there is no traffic, but would like to have the freedom to choose my route.
I don’t really get the importance of traffic, especially in IFR where you’re basically guaranteed to be in your own bubble all the time.
I disagree. I fly US east coast a lot and there are plenty of tubes around me and I’d love to hear them interacting properly with ATC. Furthermore, realistic aircraft movements and ATC during clearance, taxiing, take off and landing is very important to me. Having no traffic around you during those sections of your IFR flight is extremely unrealistic.
They interact with ATC but 99% of the time it has zero impact on your flight. I’d happily wait a few months for the questionable pleasure of waiting in a queue for the runway. That’s, as far as I’m concerned, the only situation where you kind of interact with other aircraft in a typical IFR flight.
I’m not saying it’s not a nice thing for immersion, but for me it’s far from the most important. The core feature of this product is to have an ATC that issues reasonable instructions and you can talk with naturally.
It is subjective - what you find questionable may be a deal breaker for some. Everyone is entitled to their opinions at the end of the day unless they impose it on others.
