I have often been in aircraft where we are held after landing and the crew announce ‘sorry for the delay …we are waiting for our gate number’
So I guess it could be any time from departure to post landing!
I see on Flightaware that flight UAL925 is already assigned gate C8 even though it has not yet departed Heathrow. But, of course, things can change.

Good question. I can only assume, that IRL the airline is coordinating this with the airport and passes it on to the flight crew - and of course things might be different in different parts of the world.
But on most of my flights between Europe and asia I see the assigned / expected gate and sometimes even the conveyor belt number for luggage on the screen when starting descend.
But even if given by atc after landing, we should bare in mind, that a real flight has a crew of 2 while we have to handle everything ourselves and other than IRL we have to deal with multiple apps and windows to synchronise the information and make sure that the VDGS / Marshaller and all ground crew will be on the right spot.
The current integration of GSX is not very good. More often than not the gate name assigned by BATC can not be found by GSX due to grouping / naming issues with the profile.
Reversing the sync and have GSX tell BATC what gate to assign might help to solve this.
Well said. I find the 60 seconds right after landing to be the messiest stage of my flights right now. Both BATC and, especially GSX, are trying to make this better but the full solution will require some better integration between these two apps. BATC needs to handle proper taxing, avoiding AI aircraft, etc. while GSX is a much better source of gates and allows you to pick/activate one that makes sense before you are on the ground.
I’ve suggested to team BATC that they let us select / confirm the landing gate before landing and think it is on their list. That alone would also help a lot.

How can I have the BeyondATC window and still have the aircraft interaction still work?
You mean have the BATC window “on top” while the sim is the active application?
If so, go to BATC’s options and toggle on the Always(? Can’t recall the actual wording) On Top setting. Then make the sim the active application.
I use this for the taxi map, as needed.
Also in the BATC Settings you can set a Key Bind to have the BATC window open but MSFS keeps focus (unles you click IN the BATC window… then you do need to click back to the MSFS window). But the keybind lets you open and view (and close) the BATC window easily.
Can’t get that to work. In windows programming I think there is a window type I think called Dialog and if that’s what is used then it keeps focus?

Not really, no. You may submit a request to have a fictional Virtual Airline callsign added to BATC but there are requirements that it have a certain number of active users, etc.

It would be technically simple, sure - but too much potential to be problematic, unfortunately.
It can but there are computing costs in the background that you don’t see. Your voice has to be transmitted, turned into text, interpreted, a response has to be computed, then turned into speech to be sent back to the client. None of that is free. Just look at the competitors pricing because of all that.
Wel yeah … that is what BATc is doing all the time already right ??? Nothing new.
I think when i can ENTER “HiAir” in a setting like in flightsim … i should cost way less than the computing whole sentences all the time .
Also… when i say ANY callsign ( KL123 or KLM123 ) it does exactly the same .. with the same route as you described
When i can set “hiair” in settings .. and pronounce / teach that by saying 10 times .. i suppose it should work
In simbrief try to put the airline code HGG. It’s from a defunct airline called Hi Air, maybe BATC still reads that code from the ICAO list and will use the callsign Hi Air…

There will probably be quite a few requests for custom callsigns with JetCard being a thing now.
