I think I’ve read enough to know how to activate this new function, but I’m on holiday, and can’t wait to get back and use it.
Very supportive of Sayintentions.ai and BATC. When fantastic third-party development for MSFS occurs, My partner always seems to schedule holidays…just very rude.
Wants to meet friends when we get home after landing at Gatwick on saturday and back at work onMonday, I would rather just ChilI at home and fly I may get away with it because I believe I will have jet lag from Austria…dont think that would work.
Traffic is disabled in the EA version of the program as we work to get it to a stable place where will push it to EA as a FREE update. If you would like to try out traffic while it’s in the ALPHA state please upgrade to the Supporter’s Pack version of BATC and switch to Experimental.
–VR Toolbar!–
Toolbar available to be installed in MSFS community folder. (Download from discord)
Provides access to ATC message log, frequencies and BATC action options.
–Airports–
Active runway assignment considers runway length for all aircraft compared to a type specific takeoff and landing distance.
Active runway assignment (outside of existing low wind ops) will now included runways that have a slight crosswind even if there is a runway that has perfect headwind. This is important at airports with many non-parallel runways
GA classified aircraft will try and using the shorter runways that are active to avoid landing on runways for airline use.
Arrival parking is based on the full traffic data set and will allocate the player a gate that best matches their aircraft from Simbrief, considering the tail number, callsign and operator/type (in that order) of the flight. If multiple options exist from these selection criteria randomize the value returned for variation from flight to flight.
Improvements to runway turnoff logic for direction and timing.
Where airport scenery has very long taxi segments split them up for better handling and traffic separation.
Updates and additions to our airport ops list.
Fixed some low wind ops values that could lead to arriving and departing in opposite directions.
Fixed runway assignment direction issue if all runways were either low_crosswind or crosswind status.
–Aircraft–
Aircraft type meta data has been expanded for more aircraft and to include data such as the average takeoff and landing distances.
Vectors now use per aircraft type values to configure as base and final leg value to help managed vectors being too short for some aircraft, biz jets for example.
–ATC Comms–
Further fixes for not being handed off to Tower.
Fix for no assigned parking at destination airport when you weren’t handed off to Tower but contacted them yourselves
Speed to detect comms change or xpndr update made in aircraft has improved.
–Voice Recognition–
Massive fixes across the board to all recognition failure points, significant improvement to handling of numbers, niner and all manor of phraseology.
–Voice–
Significant increase in the variation of phraseology.
Non-English voices generation response time nearly doubled or tripled for a significant number of existing and new voices.
Many new premium voices.
–Vectors–
Improved vector handling and TOD calculations.
–Misc–
More improvements and bug fixes than can be listed here!
I’m currently running Fs Traffic to populate my airports which I purchased from the in sim marketplace.
I’ve been thinking of purchasing Beyond ATC to get a more realistic ATC in my flights but just wondered if it will work Ok along side FST? I know it’s having some sort of traffic injection but I’m happy with FST at the moment.
I’m sure this has been asked before but any help much appreciated before I make a purchase.
I’m also assuming Beyond ATC works ok with navigraph/simbrief flight plans?
I have FSTraffic. BATC use the models FStraffic install, but you won’t need to run FStraffic at all with BATC due BATC injects its own traffic (with FStraffic models if you have them installed). I recommend you BATC with FSmodels.
At the moment, if you purchase the Basic version of BATC it won’t inject traffic (it’s in alpha release only for who bought the supporters version), but this injection will come very soon for all free.
And on the other hand, BATC uses your simbrief flight plan to work, so, yes, it works with simbrief and navigraph. It downloads your latest flight plan from simbrief automatically.
I’m currently running BATC with traffic along with FSTraffic aircraft. It works quite well with the exception that I seem to get a fair few blank white aircraft mainly 738s. I tried using FSLTL aircraft instead but these behaved weirdly and were trampolining i.e. bouncing up and down on their wheels.
If I have both FSTraffic and FSLTL models installed would this possibly fill in the blank liveries for me? I don’t particularly want it to default back to FSLTL though and the bouncing aircraft. Or has anyone possibly got any other suggestions. Thanks.
That depends on the airport. At large airports like KLAX, EGLL or that new EDDF I must scale the traffic down because there’s a significant impact on performance (but that can be done dynamically with a slider in the program which is nice). It just draws a huge amount of traffic at these airports on the default setting (5). At smaller or middle sized airports I hardly notice any impact.
The largest airport I’ve flown from so far is Kingsford Smith but as i said above I’ve only ever had the slider set to 4. Set at that level I haven’t seen any worse performance than I did purely with the FSTraffic injector. Only a fairly basic system i7 and 3080.
Yeah, now I automatically put it down to 4 when at airports like that and still it’s crowded with traffic. And I’m also talking about payware addon airports (and them alone take some fps away), I avoid generic basic airports. That’s not a criticism, anyway because it’s quite expected. Actually it’s quite cool, given it’s still labeled as “alpha”. I’m on i9 and 2080.
So I’ve landed at the beautiful IniBuilds KLAX and did some tests. Here’s a screenshot of Little Navmap, I’m the yellow one, the orange ones are AI Traffic planes controlled by BATC:
And that’s density 4 out of 10. You see it’s still pretty lively. One has just departed 25R and there are two parallel landings 25L and 24R. Very cool.
My MSFS settings are mostly on high-end preset and I was in TFDi MD-11F which is not as smooth as let’s say PMDG airplanes and using FSLTL models. With the AI Traffic I had around 20 fps having the camera directed towards the central terminal area where the most aircraft were. So that’s still acceptable (at least for me), without the AI Traffic it jumped to 30 fps which is noticeable in this low-range fps.
Real world yes, but not real time. BATC uses a weeks subset of traffic from FR24, recent but not specified and possibly refreshed later.
As regards runways it uses real weather plus some operating restrictions to create its own active runways. These do not, however, necessarily agree with airport real time operation and you often cannot request a change.
That said, it is far and away a substantial improvement on MSFS ATC.
Yes, same for me. Some airlines like Iberia Express or Wizzair Malta here in Europe don’t match with its liveries, but I guess it’s something they will fix with time. We have only an Alpha version…
Yes I only had the one on this mornings flight. It’s hardly a major issue and I guess i can live with it until like you say until it’s hopefully fixed.
The pros far outweigh the cons so far so I’m not going to moan too much.
Trouble is I’m like the majority on here and expect perfection from the off. Need to manage expectations more.
