+1. I’m getting tired of this.
Kinda looks like their marketingteam is quite busy here is what I’m saying…
Folks, this topic is in regards to Beyond ATC.
Please stick to that topic.
There are BATC “fan-boys” and there are "SI “fan-boys”, and it is doubrful each may ever agree with each other – but does that really matter.
If you are happy with whichever product you choose to use, why should it concern you want others choose to use,
There are posts in BOTH discord and forums, with their respective “fan Boys” making totally untrue and misinformed statements about the other product, and its really a shame it should be this way.
I have purchased Both, used both, and am happy with the one I decided to continue to use, as it fits MY needs, and that is really all that matters to me. Its MY choice , and YES, its nice to have a choice.
While I choose not to tell you what my choice is (it should be of no concern to you), I wish that those that feel strongly about whichever product they like, would just stick to talking about that product, hopefully in a positive way, and stop trying to put down alternatives, that in many cases, they have no real knowledge or experience of.
I feel exactly the same, I have purchased every 3rd party ATC for MSFS.
It has left me with my two favourite’s that I only use depending on my flight mood VFR or IFR.
As this is a BATC thread I love it, and very transparent on their future development…I will continue to pay for their service.
Just love Flying over France…hearing a controller french accent…yes it costs but I enjoy it. Its my choice how I spend my money.
So anyway, back to topic … I don’t have time or attention for a “serious” flight tonight, but I still enjoy piddling around, as one does. So I re-generated one of my usual flight plans (KBNA - EGLL), real-world BAW 222 Heavy, spawned into the PMDG 777-300ER at Nashville and practiced going through startup from cold & dark, requesting clearance from BATC, loading the aircraft via GSX, then using BATC to control my pushback/startup, taxi and climb out to cruise altitude. Everything worked perfectly and smoothly.
Along the way, I tried using BATC’s new feature, the special traffic map. The inner circle shows the aircraft BATC renders, while the outer circle shows all the “en route” traffic that BATC is simulating and keeping track of, only to be rendered when and if it comes into range. Pretty neat to see this little peek under the hood, so to speak.
After using BATC for a couple of hours, I’m disappointed.
I am within view of EGBB 015 runway flight path.
When MSFS is switched to ‘Live Traffic’, I can look out of my window and see the airplane that just took off from EGBB on the VFR map.
Where are the ‘Live Traffic’ aircraft in BATC?
Also, my airplane is at EGBW, Wellesbourne Mountford. Why does BATC call it Wellesbourne Mountfield?
Where are all the GA traffic on 124.030 flying in and out of EGBW?
MSFS doesn’t have them until they tune to Birmingham Approach. Understandable.
Not understandable for BATC. I paid £24 for this to get Live Traffic at my home field. I don’t get Bernie in the Tower on 124.030 .
Junk.
If £24 is all you have paid, then having access to live traffic would currently require you to pay another £24, for the supporter role?
It is only the supporters that can access the experimental build at the moment and that is the only build that currently contains live traffic. This is for the duration of a currently open-ended testing period, after which, live traffic will be rolled out to all BATC users.
Also, did you report the airport naming error, as if nobody tells them about such errors, then they aren’t likely to be corrected?
Apparently you did zero research about the product before buying it.
There is no “Live Traffic” on BATC. It uses a weeks worth of historic data from a few months ago from Flight Radar 24. This has been well explained on their Discord and YouTube channel, but in brief, the licensing costs of using live data are currently far too high to support.
And if you did get the Supporters version (with traffic) you’d probably be even more disappointed because the traffic isn’t actually “live”, as in, it’s what’s happening right now. BATC traffic source is a database of aircraft movements for a particular week earlier in the year.
When I first learned this I was a little disappointed too, but now I’ve had some experience of it, it doesn’t really matter - I don’t use MSFS to be an aircraft spotter!
I know that and apparently just fell into the trap of using the words of the original poster.
Maybe I should have done more thinking before posting?
Ha, no worries!
Hi,
Thanks.
Will see my Finance Director shortly.
Will that upgrade also allow me to post on Discord? That was another gripe.
As for ATC at EGBW on 124.030, will that be available on Supporters, as this is the primary reason my purchase?
If no, BATC can go into a cobweb directory deep down in the drive tree.
Well I’m on Discord and it’s full of useful information and an opportunity to report issues with the release version of BATC. I’ve actually yet to purchase, so it’s safe to say you should be allowed on, if you try. There is also a protected area, for supporters, where I suspect, among other things, there is a way for issues with the experimental build to be reported.
As for EGBW, that might be a good topic for your first question and/or issue on the Discord channel.
You can post on discord already. Only the supporter’s lounge is locked.
And please refrain from using derogatory language while clearly you are not up to speed as to what BATC does and doesn’t. I’d suggest that you spend two hours or so on watching some youtube video’s about the app from captain himself. Or even spend five minutes to read the home page, which clearly summarizes the state of the app at the moment and some features yet on the roadmap.
I think that you might have tagged the wrong simpilot?
From the latest experimental release notes on Discord, it sounds like this version might be coming to early access soon, if it proves stable.
What gives you that impression? I just looked and don’t see anything that indicates Traffic will be added soon.
They wrote it in expermential patch note.
