They said VFR is planned but not next in line. It’ll take a while…
My guess for the mystery feature is being able to request a new approach, i.e. Visual, ILS, RNAV.
BATC.
Total waste of money.
For you maybe, not for me, this and another 3rd party ATC I only use now. One for IFR the other for VFR.
I dont feel I am wasting my money.
Its fantastic…IMHO, and it is my opionion the best on offer.
I will continue to support these two great products financially.
That simple eh? Care to elaborate why?
Looking at your post from two months ago, still bitter that it doesn’t have live real-world traffic (which it never purported to have)?
All too often the human brain “sees” what it wants to see and unfortunately some folk have difficulty in accepting they’ve misread or misunderstood something. It’s something that is seen all too often in social media, which is why I only use it in a very limited way.
I, too, thought we’d be getting real traffic and was disappointed when it was pointed out that that was not going to happen. However I can now safely say, having spent (far too) many hours with BATC the experience is perfectly fine and close enough to live real world that I don’t notice.
I’ve no doubt that it could work, but it would also be tremendously expensive, for reasons that have been made clear time and time again. But the devs have also made it perfectly clear, right from the start, that they wanted it to be affordable for as many as possible and would not go down that road.
Of course, for those with cash to spare, well there is an apparently suitable alternative…
Blunmin 'eck Terry, you could run for PM with that post.
I suppose it’s remotely possible that the new BATC “mystery feature” could be live traffic, but unlikely.
I haven’t recently been following the alternative more-expensive ATC product, but I don’t think it has live traffic either. (Does any Sim ATC Product have it?)
I toggle between BATC and VATSIM (which I’ve used long prior to BATC), depending on my mood, i.e. whether I feel like dealing with real people or not, whether I’m in a hurry and up the Sim Rate, etc. Both have their places.
Traffic now on EA
Captain — Today at 00:06
Greetings @everyone, we’ve released traffic to Early Access! Traffic features:
-
A custom built injector just for BeyondATC using a comprehensive 3D simulation of every plane’s logic and movement.
-
Flight ops from all over the world, boasting over 1 million+ flights from every part of the globe.
-
Gate-accurate airlines for every airport.
-
Airframe performance calculations, meaning each airframe type will takeoff, land, bank, and pitch according to its performance characteristics.
-
Full integration of traffic into the ATC system. All aircraft and ATC will call in and make requests for every stage of flight, accurate to its real world flight plan using the same system as the player.
-
Aircraft agnostic preferencing - BeyondATC doesn’t know the difference between the player’s aircraft and traffic meaning it will handle and prioritize your plane in the same way it does traffic making for a very realistic simulation of action priority.
-
Taxi logic which will reserve paths along the airport and give way to passing aircraft, resulting in many fewer “standoff situations” than default traffic where aircraft will end up facing each other along a taxiway, unable to move.
-
Runway logic and simulation, aircraft are told to line up, hold short, cross runways (with a higher priority the longer they are waiting) and are given clearance according to a deep runway logic simulation. Runway simulation accounts for wake turbulence according to airframe, waiting for vortices to clear before releasing an aircraft for takeoff. An aircraft will be warned of wake turbulence if the preceding aircraft is of a larger airframe than its own.
-
“Bird’s Eye Airport Logic” where each controller of an airport has situational awareness of what’s happening in other sectors of the airport, coordinating their actions according to others situations.
-
Full traffic representation for all stages of flight; clearance, pushback, taxi, takeoff, departure, center, approach, landing, taxi in, shut down.
-
Traffic go arounds; traffic will be told to go around if the landing runway is occupied or unsafe. The traffic then flies the full vectored circuit back to the IAF where it will attempt another landing. The player will also be told to go around if traffic is on the runway or the runway deemed unsafe.
-
Multi-Frequency airport comms; airports are broken up into multiple comm frequencies as determined by custom ops data. This keeps comms clear and contextual to which runway the comm is assigned. (Data for this feature is continuing to be expanded. Currently we have data for about 25 airports).
-
Airplane sequencing, aircraft will be sequenced in to maintain a distance between them according to their speed and airframe. The player is included in these calculations.
-
Pushback tugs, tugs will pushback the aircraft from the gate.
-
Custom takeoff and landing animations, these animations are custom built per airframe. Aircraft will flare on landing, and pitch up before lifting off on takeoff. We believe no other traffic injector, including the MS default injector matches the quality and breadth of these animations.
-
Full integration of traffic into the local BeyondATC airport map, and a wider view enroute traffic map which can be downloaded here: https://www.beyondatc.net/download
As mentioned in prior posts, the standard method of injecting traffic is to send a message to MSFS 20/24 to put a plane into the sim, give it some waypoints and then let MSFS determine how to taxi/fly the plane between them, resulting in the crazy spinning in circles and head-on takeoffs MSFS’ traffic has come to be known for, with the unfortunate truth that this behavior seems to be worse in FS 2024. Over the past year we’ve been building our own traffic simulation in BATC’s 3D engine, completely decoupled from MSFS; we control their every movement, thought and action. With this, we believe we have some of the best and most functional traffic on the market. Enjoy! (edited)
Beyondatc
Live traffic is, and has always been, a no go. It is just too expensive.
At the beginning of the flight simulation we wanted to have planes around us. Now we have them and we are still not satisfied. What does live traffic mean? What we see now is live traffic. That’s how it happened recently. I don’t understand it and what’s the problem?
It is not current real-time traffic with BATC. It is I think, traffic schedules from some recent point in history. I dont remember the time frame, but it is somewhat historical.
This is from the BATC faq
BeyondATC uses data from FlightRadar24, using a historic week of data. This includes all IFR flights, GA included.
Excellent news.
Can’t wait to try…if only i could get 2024 up and running !
I’m dumb, and have been out of the BATC game for too long, is there a way to point BATC to a folder containing FSLTL models or does it strictly need to be in the community folder?
Figured it out, copied FSLTL base into my FS2024 addons folder, linked to community with addon linker. Finally I can do away with those house liveries.
Only issue I have now is what sounds like barking dogs and explosive sounds as they taxi or fly, like they’ve got engine flameout problems. Assuming some ground collision effect causing issues in 2024.
First impressions, this is incredible. I can’t imagine the amount of midnight oil burnt to create this. You’ve got aircraft holding for other aircraft, realistic liftoff, flaring, pushback. Some of those could do with slowing down a tad instead of the Magnum Pi style pushing back, but heck, I can forgive that. Can’t wait to do a proper flight later.

There’s a fix for that n the BATC Discord. Look up the Pinned messages.
