Three crash to desktop yesterday whilst taxing past the DHL building at Cologne airport in the A320. Tried Madrid, same plane, all fine.
LatinVFR Madrid has got no .cgl files so it’ll work just fine.
Interesting thing: Found an airport which has a .cgl file and won’t CTD: Simwings La Gomera GCGM
(Maybe its because their .cgl file is very small, or its not located in the airports vicinity)
No CTD on thursday. CTDs from friday 12th at around 9.00 in the morning CET.
Bump. Gave up on flying yesterday after 5 consecutive CTD in different environments - glad to see the problem has been identified
Orbx Trondheim also has cgl file and it does not ctd.
Overall I give up with flying for now until update and fix. Nothing more frustrating than ctd during approach after hours of flight.
I know that sim is new but for how long community will tolerate that - will we constantly say give it time?
Stability is the problem now. I dont even care how not advanced default planes are - stability all the way… we need that.
The worst thing is when they mess something up so much that worked flawless over the past weeks and month…
Never had any CTDs due to 3rd Party Scenery or Airports.
Indeed, never in my 5 months of owning this sim I was annoyed as these days. The sim was working perfectly fine and they unnecessarily broke the sim!
I think really, we demand an apology as well explantation on what went wrong!
TNCM Princess Juliana is the same.
Just in case any of you missed it, and I see a number of you throwing up your hands in despair, you just need to rename the .cgl file for the problematic scenery’s, and you can fly there once more.
I wrote a script to do it for you, and rename them back if you wish. I have three sceneries with this issue, and all work with renaming the file.
No need to turn off bing data.
Delete CGL folder from your Airports addons and fly without CTD ![]()

So many posts in 2 days and can’t scan through but have you checked the addons (free or payware) for the modelLib.BGL KNOWN problem?
If one addon has a file named modelLib.BGL which is a generic file generated by many authors in many addons by mistake of understanding the SDK and whatever that BGL file calls is overwritten by all the others in alphabetical order. What this means is that when you need to load the files for your addon that are called by your modelLib.BGL you might get instead files from last addon with the same file that loaded. The results can vary but in some extreme cases is CTD or even freeze the PC alltogether.
Checking for modelLib.BGL problem is easy. You can either use the tool found here:
ModelLibChanger • Flight Simulator 2020 or even use the new version of Addons Linker found here:
MSFS Addons Linker • Flight Simulator 2020
read the documentation a bit for both, it’s easy. I would recommend the later just because if is your first time is easier and less confusing, the first one tries to report two kinds of possible problems but second one (files number mismatch is less problematic and actually not needed to be solved in some cases… you might have manuals and pictures inside an addon folder and you don’t want them enumerated in the json files that get to be loaded by the game.
Is it enough to rename it to “CGL.Temp” for example?
The CGL files are needed for ground textures they are not obsolete…
I think so.
Not exactly ![]()
Airport addons looks 90% the same.
The same problem in all scenery aerosoft orbx etc CTD / Crash departure or arrival.
I see what you did there, as their .cgls are in almost the same i call them “chunks” now (Folder 032 and Folder 033). So my initial statement that this is a worldwide problem is false, as it seems that the last bing update did not update all the “chunks” (yet)
So what are they for?
What is the path of the cfg files ? Are they in the Main folder?
I did not make that connection. So the folder it sits in is not arbitrary? When I get to my desk I’ll copy in the path to the three sceneries I have with this issue.
Might be a worthwhile data point.
Search inside “Community” folder for the addon you want to change.
Orthophoto.
Inside Airport addon folder

for e.g.
Community > Airport addon
