ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Another flight, another memory issue.

Today I flew the B737 MAX on the latest SU5 Beta. The entire flight was completed successfully. Departure was fine, cruise was fine, approach was fine, landing was fine.

Then, while taxiing after landing, the cockpit screens suddenly went black.

This is becoming extremely frustrating because the simulator gives the impression that everything is working correctly, only to fall apart after touchdown.

The worst part is that this happened after the flight was basically over. Hours of flying, only for the avionics to die while taxiing to the gate.

Since SU5, performance has felt noticeably worse on Xbox Series X. Stutters increase during arrival, airports often struggle to load correctly, and now black screens are still happening even in the latest beta.

At this point I never know if a flight will end normally or if the simulator will run into memory problems after landing.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

95% of time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Complete a normal gate-to-gate flight on Xbox Series X

  2. Land and start taxiing to the gate.

  3. Screens may suddenly go black after landing.

Did you turn on the APU after landing? I suspect there’s something broken with the APU AC>DC logic, starting from SU5, because:

  1. SU5 causing issues with our aircraft systems - [MSFS 2024] Bug Reports / Aircraft - MSFS DevSupport (sorry can’t post links)

For our FS2024 compatible package, our APU is no longer providing electrical power to the aircraft. We must have the GPU on to provide electrical power. It does however still provide duct pressure for engine start. Were there some changes to sim vars/names of sim vars or some changes needed in the cfg files? I can provide more context if needed but I wanted to mention that SU5 broke our package whereas in SU4 it worked properly.

If you start Cold and dark:

  • RMI & HSI does not work

  • Altimeter & ADI stops working a few minutes after engine start
If you start on runway With engines on it works. Even when you turn of engines and all system. On start again it all works.

  1. On the latest build of FSS E190, similar behavior as above: when starting cold&dark, turning the APU on does not power the DC BUS (PFDs stay black). In fact it is impossible to start the engines because the ignition source comes from DC. But if starting from runway (engines running), it is possible to power off completely, then back up, and then APU behaves correctly and provides power to DC.

Too many indications for this to be a coincidence. I think it’s clear something was changed in SU5 with the initialization sequence… engines running is fine, cold&dark is messed up. Would be nice if it was fixed in 5.1
