Black Square Advanced Turbine and Piston Dukes

oh yeah ! in the turbine there is only 1 level unlike some other turboprop that can offer two range of idle (high and low) if not cut off

Unlike most PT6 turboprop engine installations, the Turbine Duke does not have low-
idle and high-idle positions for its condition levers. The Turbine Duke’s fuel condition lever positions are labeled “RUN” and “CUT-OFF”.

Am now reading the manual :+1:

I’m so irritated right now at Black Square. I was going to put off buying new aircraft/scenery/sim stuff…

And they just had to go ahead and release these beauties.

Kidding of course. I have all the other BlackSquare stuff and it’s amazing. Well worth the money for every single one of their products. Might as well complete the collection!!!

Thanks to the BlackSquare team for continuing to provide high-quality, amazing additions to this wonderful sim!!!

I’m bummed because the Duke x2 is likely going to relegate the BKSQ Baron and King Air to much more hangar-time then they deserve. (Caravan and TBM-850 will still get plenty of use, though.)

Exactly! I do love the King Air… but this one has a cabin I can relax in on longer flights  … I think I’ll use the piston version more to be honest.

That worked perfectly, tyVM!

I’ll post more detailed observations after my day job today, but is the Duke more difficult to keep on the centerline on takeoffs/landings with modest crosswinds than others?

I have entry-level Logitech rudders and I am noticing some sensor “jittering”, just wondering if that’s making it worse.

Or is this dependent on the SU15 Ground Handling Physics update? I’m not in the beta, but thinking about it…

I’m on SU-15 beta, and weather-vaning into a crosswind is very strong in this mod. I haven’t done any quantitative analysis, and also don’t know what max cross wind component this aircraft is rated for, but it weathervanes much, much more strongly compared to other add-ons…

Hi All,

Advice / help required.

Got Turbine Duke.

Not on Beta.

Cannot get autopilot to stay on (FD is selected).

Suggestions please?

Other than it feels sensitive on the controls (twitchy) it is a great aircraft.

Kind Regards, Bill.

Pitch Trim switch must be on for AP. Ask me how I know. :slightly_smiling_face:

Even when taxiing the weathervaning is noticeable.

It’s always so much fun to get a new BKSQ aircraft!

Very noticeable, indeed!

Yeah, and in the sky she’s rocking around in turbulence quite a lot as well. But it feels nicely organic. Perhaps a real Duke pilot will chime in at some point and tell us if that floaty flight behavior is realistic.

Some impression from my 2nd and 3rd flight. Turbine and Piston:

Hi @ScorpionFilm422

I did some testing and I found something weird.

I redownloaded the latest GTN750 version, installed it and as I would normally launch the simulator with FSUIPC running, I did not this time.

Now I can load a flight without a CTD.

Then I quit the simulator, launched FSUIPC, launched MSFS again, and again after pressing fly now a CTD occurred.

Now here comes the weird part.
I started up the sim without FSUIPC running. Loaded up a flight and after the initialization process I launched FSUIPC, BUT NOW WITHOUT CTD.

thats some weird stuff,no?

Probably much more an FSUIPC issue then.
As a javascript program, the GTN750 can’t issue any CTD and we don’t have any support issue around that.

Gotcha, thanks :+1::+1:

Couple of questions for those flying the plane:

  1. Is there a way to use GPS 2 as the nav device? Assuming not is there any way to make GPS2 show an indicator in any instrument?

  2. Is the RMI on the left of the HSI working? When flying with GPS even if I have a NAV Radio selected the needles stay put at 90 degrees.

Thanks!

  1. I don’t believe it’s possible to choose GPS2 but defer to others.
  2. Make sure the switch to the left of the Master Avionics is set to MN INV (or STBY INV). I think that powers the RMI instrument among other things.

Thanks, yes the Inverter is in Main, the HSI and all the other instruments are fine but the RMI is totally dead. Maybe it is because I’m using the KLN90 as my main GPS? Do you have it working with other GPS? Does it point to the VOR stations regardless of what the GPS is doing?
