Black Square Advanced Turbine and Piston Dukes

Agreed. I dunno about the TBM, but I haven’t heard great things about the flight dynamics of their other aircraft. I only have the Bonanza but that is long way off the Comanche in that regard.

The systems modelling truly looks amazing here, but if it doesn’t feel good to fly then…

I hope they nail it though.

I think the flight model is one of the most difficult things to get right in FS20. Very very few GA aircraft instinctively feel spot on. I think it’s complicated somewhat also by the different flight controls we all have. Some of us use flight sticks, others yokes of mixed quality and different yoke travel. Some of us also use Xbox control pads. What works for one won’t necessarily work for others and often a lot of tweaking of settings is needed.

The A2A Comanche is arguably at number one spot for GA aircraft but two or perhaps even three other devs are not that far off in my opinion despite using the sim’s SDK.

I have all of the BS AC except the Caravan. Some of the flight models are better than others but for me they are mostly pretty good even if they are not quite there at launch.

Maybe the Dukes’ FM might need tweaking a bit at launch. That is quite possible. I think though that the dev will take any valid criticisms on board and deliver us early on with a FM that works pretty good and is very believable.

As I’ve said in a post above, for me, these will be a day one/hour one purchase. Really looking forward to them.

Latest tutorial video now live, this one shows you the correct procedure for starting the Dukes up, along with some fine detail and tips for getting it spot-on.

Thanks for this video !
There’s so much information once again, combined with the manuals, I believe I’ll have enough to survive the wait and be ready on day 1 !

Well, the deep simulation I was kind of expecting, but the engine sounds during the whole startup sequences were amazing. Especially with the piston one.

Love these videos. I find them quite educational. Quite a lot of info to absorb as well if your not a RL pilot.

Looks like another great learning experience with these two Dukes like I had with the Comanche.

I expect to fall out of the sky more than a few times too not to mention getting through a bucket load of spare parts

Yeah, I’ll expect I’ll be using the “repair” buttons an awful lot on this plane early on. I always found that the BKSQ Baron was the hardest to start (notably when it’s cold outside), but I’ll bet this will be even more finnicky.

I can’t wait for all these new features (such as tablet and FOD) to be implemented on previous aircraft as well.

Hopefully, after that, starting the Baron shouldn’t be as hard, and it will hold no more mystery for you.

There is a forum topic that sheds some light on what we can expect when it comes to the older planes:

Excellent! Look out and take notes A2A!

I love it when sim aircraft give you an ingame edition of “Will it start?” Jimmy’s World style.

So … if I am reading this right then the new tablet and failures system will probably not make it to the Baron and Bonanza but maybe (?) the TBM. The Baron and Bonanza might instead be (new?) stand alone AC for FS24. That’s as I read it rightly or wrongly.

Just trying to manage my expectations here as I have all of the older BS AC except the Caravan.

Looks and sounds amazing!

what I understood, for overhaul version, many feature will not be able to be ported on , “Features like the physics based starting simulation, tablet, sounds, and new failure system really beg for a standalone version of those aircraft for MSFS 2024” he is waiting to see what 2024 gonna bring interm of inovation rebuild of 2020 models.

Btw he already included few in bonanza and baron " I have already ported some of the more “drop-in” features to the Baron and Bonanza, and they will be included in the next update after I release the Dukes. " (like FOD ? needle friction ?)
for the TBM, shouldn’t be an issue

Ah … didn’t catch on that some of the new features COULDN’T be added to the non standalone AC. Anyway, I guess we’ll find out for sure when the dev has finished the Dukes. Probably, best left for another thread as well :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the reply NiKoTin :+1:

I may be wrong, but if I can get more information, I will keep you informed. Considering JustFlight comments, tablets are already planned to be implemented into the TBM (as seen in the “Tablet presentation” video, comment section).
However, in my opinion, items like engine heaters, pitot covers, lighting/strobe effect, control locks, and tablets could not be implemented as easily since they imply modifications to the 3D model… (don’t quote me on this, it s just my speculation and understanding of limitations)

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Man the people who are always getting up in arms whenever a story comes out about some guy trying to marry a pillow or a hologram are really gonna be upset when one of us goes and tries to marry a virtual Beechcraft.

If this guy keeps it up with these videos it might just be me…

I’m not on Xbox, but do we know why they aren’t bringing their standalone planes to the marketplace and xbox? Or are they now? Seems like an untapped revenue stream for Black Square.

Nope. Not just you.

He/They will be yes but until now he’s not felt the urge and not made getting the aircraft ready for marketplace submission a priority. Instead he chooses to jump onto another project which has probably had initial work undertaken. Black Square are pretty much a one man team, with Just Flight a willing accomplish helping with everything involved in bringing these great aircraft to market. But in terms of the commercial decisions it’s very much just down to Nick at Black Square to decide where he heads next. Of course it will make sense to release on the Marketplace too and that will happen with the majority of the Black Square titles. Whether or not having them tested and ready for Xbox too will be straightforward remains to be seen. We know doing all of that is on the radar for Black Square and you’ll quite possibly see the Dukes as the first to make the transition to the Marketplace but I can’t give you a definite timescale on that right now, it’d just be guesswork. Hope that helps to at least start to answer your enquiry.
