I noticed that a poor VOR signal does not give the autopilot any issues. The needle can be flying back and forth but AP is as happy as larry. I assume there is no way to model interference for the AP? Bit of a shame because it makes the interference feel sorta superficial.
Unfortunately, there does not appear to be any concept of a Noisy VOR signal ( at long range, low signal-to-noise ratio), so we are left with MSFS having a hard DIGITAL switch on/off between a Full signal & no signal, with the Boolean variable for the VOR being active, based purely on fixed defined Range, (day or night)
This is a shame, as there is also a VOR signal strength variable, that changes quite well with range & altitude, as well as when flying over the top of the VOR, which, 0ne might assume, is being used to control the noisiness of any analogue needle in a 3PDâs plane, but does not appear, from user reports, to be affecting the signal to noise of the signal being fed to the AP, this the AP remains overly stable.
Actually, this may not be as bad as it is seeming, depending on how much damping is present in the real world, and how much is being simulated in the Planeâs AP system.
Tough call to say what is more accurate, or indeed if the current simulation is that far from realistic.
However, what is clearly (and audibly) Missing, is any Noise on the VORâs Ident signal, as the distance to the VOR increases, to a marginal operation range, and the fact that one should be able to hear a Noisy, when listening to an almost out of range Vor, when its signal to noise ratio is so low, that the electronics deems the signal too low, and thus stops using it.
Also missing in MSFS is any concept of radio audio manual Squelch control.
BTW: For a 3PD to start adding in that audio noise, is not an easy task, especially if it is going t be a function of terrain, and line of sight .
Pilot Edge have however managed to do so, to some extent, with their own Custom MP system, which adds another level of realism & Immersion.
Well done Pilot Edge âŠ

Unfortunately the VOR/ADF needle signal attenuation theyâve added in needs a lot of work. Have you also noticed that the HSI CDI wanders even when youâre in GPS mode? And yeah, the autopilot should be doing a bit of wandering too until youâve got a solid signal, which may not be as easy to do. Thatâs on top of the ADF needles not resting at 90 and having no turning errors. But hopefully they can fix all that.
The flight model of the A36 is a whole other thing⊠man does it need work.
I read this, andâŠ
We canât win, can we
(âThe AP is totally unstable!â⊠âThe AP is too stable!â (runs away screaming))
In all fairness, until a few months ago, the AP did go into a permanent unstable mode, if turned on on the ground for any time, and then later turned on in the Air.
Asobo provided a solution to that issue, by correctly introducing a Mode, where the AP effectively âresetâ when it was turned off. (PID - Clear the Integral error)
So, now, if this mode is set correctly by the plane Devs, the âŠ
âI turned on my AP in the air ,the plane went into a spin/ dive/ stall , and it crashed the planeâ,
should be a thing of the past.
You can now also do a valid AP test when on the ground, and live to fly another day âŠ
Final touches on my small mods to this fantastic mod.If everything goes well it should be available this weekend.
Itâs the standard mixture axis. In the Baron as well as in the Bonanza (mixture axis or mixture 1 / mixture 2 axis).
In Spad.next it looks like this:
For the Turbo version of the Baron it is an LVAR (âBKSQ_MIXTURELEVERPOSITION_1â and âBKSQ_MIXTURELEVERPOSITION_2â) - screenshot from SPAD.NEXT:
For the Bonanza A36TC itâs âBKSQ_MIXTURELEVERPOSITION_1â.
In the in game control settings it is mixture 1 axis and mixture 2 axis (-100 to +100)
What is your Mod ??
He is redoing the cockpit with improved textures and more realistic instrument fonts and labels. I look forward to trying it.
Hi all,
Just to inform that my enhanced Bonanza cockpit is now available @ flightsim.to
A special thanks to NiKoTin3420 and JayDee for their comments and support.
Happy flying and waiting for your comments or suggestions !

Looks amazing â and âRealâ â great job âŠ
Didnât do so much.I just refined details. All the compliments must be adressed to Nick the Black Square developper who has made a tremendous job.I just beautified a little bit his job!
Oooops
Thanks for the feedback. Will post the correction today.
Update available on flightsim.to (v1.02) with corrected texture
Just got it, thank you. Canât wait for the Caravan enhancement one day.
Does anyone know if there is a fix yet or one coming for the terrible texture reflections in the storm window?
yes you can ask JF
