I don’t know why that is. I’m not a pilot, so part of why flight simming is interesting to me, is learning new things. How to operate different engines, different avionics, different flight characteristics. If I already have a really good single engine piston (or multiple…), do I need another one? Maybe? But, maybe not.
I thought engine health was getting saved and restored successfully? (Along with the tablet options and failure states.) It’s stuff like radio frequencies and armrest positions and whatnot that seem to be getting overwritten with default values on load-in.
Black Square doesn’t really do much in the way of persistent wear anyway, just engine health. BS is based around static failure chances instead of wear.

- Some interesting new avionics. It’s gonna take an amazing plane to make me add another Garmin G1000/3000 plane to my hangar. If you use their automation, they’re all like flying the same plane with different number variables plugged in.
Might be time to try VR??? It opens up a whole new world of enjoyment. I am a RL pilot and I had gotten to where you are. Then I decided to give VR a go. It can be a little overwhelming in the beginning getting everything set up, however there are tons of YouTube videos out there. You can practically “feel the cabin seat and smell the 100LL octane fuel” while sitting in each cockpit. Going low and slow brings about a whole new sense of enjoyment in VR.
I honestly don’t understand your logic.
With what you’re saying you will not get any new plane ever, if you already own a Single and Twin Piston, and a Single and Twin Turboprop. There’s only a very limited amount of combinations for engines.
What makes a plane interesting, at least to me, is its system simulation, audio, and avionics.
In terms of simulation, it’s Black Square guys. In terms of avionics, the autopilot is new, the radio unit is new, the ADF is new, the DME is new, the RNAV is new, and for the first time in the MSFS, we have a working Stormscope. And in terms of audio, it’s from Boris.
Aside from all of that, we know graphically gonna look great, and 6 interior models.
So honestly, what do you need more?
This is also the reason I’m picking it up despite already owning their other awesome planes. It offers something new, not just in terms of the plane model, but the systems.
This is also the reason that I don’t buy addons with the stock G1000 anymore. So in a way, I’m in Ploodovic’s camp of “I have to many X already” but for me it’s solely about avionics. To play devil’s advocate, I also have an absurd number of planes with the same analog 6-pack, so maybe I’m just an analog purist, but there are at least some unique panel configs with analog at times whereas a G1000 suite is… just that.
There’s also the enjoyment of getting to learn each aircraft’s unique quirks. A PA-28R Arrow, A36 Bonanza and Commander 112/114 are high performance single engine retracts but all very different in their procedures, handling, speeds and management. So when you’re dealing with JF or BKSQ aircraft at least, there’s tons of little differences and details that add up to a unique experience.
On the suggestion from Saltash53, I was trying to steer the conversation away from the general state of Black Square’s state saving, and toward the Commander 114.
Seems like some of the conversation became whether I personally will enjoy this plane, which was never my intention. I merely wanted people to talk about what they’re looking forward to, with the 114.
The different avionics, I knew about, but since I don’t know this plane, I don’t know if there are other things that I’ve missed, that makes it different from other planes. That’s all.
The storm scope looks really cool, I wonder what black magic Nick has come up with, to make that work.
