Goodness, do you know what an approach plate is? How can you export official historical AIP/AFD data from FSX? I am talking about this flipping thing. How can you get older approach charts for KSEA when there were VOR and other non-precision approaches?
I reckon you’ll have to make them yourself short of finding physical copies. locating the way points on a GPS approach relative to the nearby vor would be the way I could think of. there don’t seem to be repositories online, unless someone has them privately.
Thanks for sharing this. This is very exciting for me.
Did I read correctly that it’s going to be like 30 euros each?
(edit) $30 USD for me each. Looks like it’s way more comprehensive than “just” a gauge replacement!
I agree. This is a massive upgrade for these two. Looking forward to it!
Absolutely! It is truly a massive upgrade. Even the circuit breakers are modeled so you can pull one and see what effect it has on the remaining systems. The list is very extensive. Unreal.
As a former Jarhead, “what does this button do?” is definitely my favorite game of all time. I’m told there’s nothing more dangerous in the world than a bored Marine…
Thank you for your service! I’ll buy you a virtual beer (a real one if you’re in Baltimore). I never served myself, but my Step Son served as a Marine and he’s the sharpest, strongest most productive human I’ve ever met in my life
As for button pushin’, I’m with 'ya man! I’m so looking forward to buying this conversion package. I was stunned as I read through the feature list/write-up that was linked above. I love doing short hops with the Caravan in Fed Ex colors. I keep 'em short because I like the approach and landing phase so much.
Now… the wait for that email so I can romp on the BUY button and get to it!
FYI, I just tried the link directly from their site and it worked. Tried to copy and paste as a test and it didn’t work
Yeah, same problem here. The King Air manual works ok, but it’s hosted on a different site, so .
A Cargomaster version of the C208 would be cool as well.
I’m never sure how to reply to that. I appreciate the sentiment! …you’re…welcome?
I will most certainly take you up on the beer if I ever make it out that way, Pops!
This is slightly off topic, but I am a huge fan of the Caravan, the B-N Islander and Trislander. ‘bout 10,000’, not goin all that fast, just takin’ in the sights! (I agree regarding the phases of flight. I often don’t have a ton of time, so I’m typically in the 1 hour to 1.5 hour range. Do you fly with VATSIM?
So excited for this. I hope it comes out soon!
How about the flight model. Is it just the gauges being developed? Are the flight models default or getting a tweak? If not, then how are the flight models for the Caravan and King Air? Any good?
No, I haven’t tried VATSIM. I’m really casual, I haven’t even used the in Sim ATC😳
I thought about signing up for VATSIM and just monitoring for a while to get a feel for it. I’d take it seriously and show complete respect for the process and procedures, that’s for sure. I think of it as a big step up from my casual ways😊
Both product description pages state the following:
Flight dynamics
The Analog King Air/Caravan features a slightly improved flight model compared to the default King Air 350i/Caravan, with tweaks based on operator feedback.
So I guess they’ll be some slight changes?
vatsim is great. you can fly in observer mode and still see traffic and listen to ATC (you can transmit too if doing shared cockpit). It’ll help build your confidence and hear how transmissions are done.
£27.99 GBP for a mod? That’s more than the price I paid for the excellent Sting S4 or Honda Jet both projects which were done from scratch. It’s also not far off the price of the Milviz 310 or Cessna 414 either.
I get that there are improvements to the default aircraft but the price does seem a bit steep to me. The flight model seems to be only slightly improved apparently and the engine sounds are also described as using the MSFS King Air default package.
Normally, Just Flight prices are quite reasonable but to be honest I’m far from convinced with this at first glance.
Just my initial thoughts.
That’s definitely understandable. I’ll be the first to admit its price, combined with some aircraft elements remaining from the default aircraft, will turn some people away.
On the other hand, there is a group of simmers (though maybe small, given how much everyone loves the GTNs), that have been craving aircraft with analogue gauges, and older avionics. For some, this might be worth the price.
Personally, having spent 9 years flying analogue gauge C208s & B200s, I was sold, ‘hook line and sinker’ immediately .
Despite my own reservations the great thing is that we all have a choice whether or not to buy it and as you point out there will likely be some simmers who will find it a worthwhile purchase.
I hope that those who do buy it enjoy it
