Been working on this since 2014, has been through numerous updates, retrofits, rebuilds but this will be the final product. Now just to keep my fingers crossed that the 350 from Black Square is fully modeled and addressable… :upside_down_face:

past week, l had some word with BS dev, they are having a bit of a tough time with the latest version of the GNS530 WT, in the release of future update , it seems to add a lot of complexities to the systems incorporated in Blacksquare’s planes (208B included). It is likely the source of the delay

■■■■…that’s awesome.

So for example I figured out that with PMS50 + WTT mode when I am in HDG mode and I press NAV (to intercept a VOR radial for example) the autopilot stays in HDG mode and shows NAV ARM.

With the TDS the HDG goes off immediately and NAV turns on even though I might be very far away from the radial I try to intercept.

Which is the realistic behaviour? To me, the first seems to be more reasonable.

And is this a modification that the WTT mod brings? I’m still totally confused about this one. I thought that the autopilot in the King Air is custom-coded but it seems like it still uses standard functionality that it somehow changed by WTT. Can anyone clarify on this?

I’m SO CLOSE to having an outside view with just the engines and wings visible from the cockpit.

Using the Black Square mod, does anyone have any knowledge on how to get rid of the wipers and thin window frames from the cockpit view? Shown in attached image)

I thought they might be located in the TEXTURES directory so I literally removed anything remotely resembling wipers, but no luck.

I suspect these are animation files, but have no idea where those are at or what they are called.

@TheBeechHouse did you try this trick ? Cabin Camera trick/glitch maybe you can set a camera on the front of the cockpit bordures by traveling via the roof (the trick allow to ignore the cockpit limits) near the oxygen masks, but you will be very close to the nose

edit : l did a test , best way is to go from back side , far away outside the aircraft then go to the nose, not via the roof like l said, but result will be very bizarre concerning view position :frowning:

there is a file analogKingair_Templates.xml (model folder) with many lines concerning the wipers , but this ll just remove the ability to move to the wiper (i guess, l may be wrong) also there is some line in the AnalogKingAir.xml around line 14 277 evocating ("To disable this feature, simply comment out the below template for “BKSQ_WIPER_SLICES_ACTIVATED”, and uncomment the template for “BKSQ_WIPER_SLICES_DEACTIVATED” ) but this will not remove them (hav’nt tried) just ignore the previous mentionned templates lines I guess, try opening a ticket to JF, they will be prompt you

edit 2 : my bad ! just realised it s part of the original Asobo king air, so I don’t know if they (JF) can help you that much since black square were not able to edit the global exterior model , l thought they did add it, but I was wrong

Strange thing going on today.

From cold and dark, any button touched causes sim to say I’ve crashed into an object.

Was attempting to start from Bakersfield, CA. Night time conditions so the first switch I went for was the emergency lighting. Up pops the notice that I’ve collided with something. Tried again (making sure parking brake was set first) – same problem. Tried the battery switch first – same problem. Tried Ctrl e – same problem. Restarting sim / removing and replacing king air in community folder / different parking place at Bakersfield – all with same results.

Could only fly if starting flight on the runway.

Didn’t affect other aircraft.

Anyone else have this happen???

I’m completely speculating here, but is there a persistent failure active that’s not getting triggered until you hit a switch?

Also, is it doing it at any other airport?

Don’t think it’s a persistent failure as those are also present when I start from the runway, but I’ll reset engines to 100% and check for/clear any failures just in case.

Didn’t try another airport (yet).

OK, so I had a few minutes to check it…

The good news: it’s fixed!

The bad news: we may never know why.

I set the flight up cold & dark, exactly as before, flicked the emergency light switch on and… everything worked. No problems whatsoever. Just some MSFS quirk? Who knows. I’m just glad that one of my favorite planes no longer needs a maintenance write up :smiling_face:

I appreciate your suggestions though; will start there if the problem ever reappears.

If you use a quadrant or have a seperate gear lever and have left said lever in the up position, (several reasons for this, like CTD on a prior flight, abandoning a flight before completion etc) then you can get this issue. How do I come up with this? Yes, it happened to me and took a few hours to discover the fix. If it isnt this, then of course, I am in the dark. :slight_smile:

Wish the autopilot panel was located in the front rather than central pedestal. It may not be that much of a problem IRL but in a sim it’s very difficult to switch camera constantly between gauges and AP panel. It should be a pop out display to get rid of that unnecessary complexity.

Me too, love this plane but I fly in VR and it’s very difficuly to look down there and manage to click on things properly. Front-panel would be so much better.

Is there a Black Square Discord?

As of 1/20/2023, the flight director does not work unless the autopilot is on. Please fix so the plane can be flown manually with the flight director. The instructions in the manual no longer work.

could it be a mod conflicting, like maybe you are using the new WT gns530 wich s not fully comptatible yet …

Seems to work for me. I just checked today because someone else said this. I use WT GNS and TDS GTN 750Xi.

I’m in APPR mode here with FD only and the bars command a descent to follow the lpv gp.
