Hi everyone, we wanted to address some of the backwards compatibility FAQs you’ve been reaching out for:
When will my BBS/Shrike/MV 2020 products be backwards compatible so I can use them in 2024?
While we are confident that Microsoft and Asobo are working to provide backwards compatibility improvements over the next few updates and hot fixes, as it stands today, none of our products function 100% properly in 2024. Though our teams have been testing our products with a limited beta variant of the sim over the last few months, it was not till the official release version that we could fully grasp what’s required for our products to properly function. Based on our latest assessment, there still remain assets/fixes/improvements we require in order to continue proper compatibility of our entire product lineup.

As we are sure you are aware, many similar statements have been released among the development community and we’re not isolated with the current constraints. What’s required for full functionality from developer to developer within the industry varies significantly. That said, like many development companies, we are in communication with MS & Asobo about this. Until we know more, we cannot guarantee any timeline of when you may use Blackbird products in MSFS 2024.
What we are doing right now:
In the meantime, we have started work on new builds of our 2020 products with the intention of fixing the more egregious issues impacting MSFS 2024 compatibility.
Please bear in mind that our products are varied, and therefore, we do not expect all of them to reach the same level of functionality in 2024 as they have in 2020. Some might work flawlessly, while others may not.
As for timeline: we will go as fast as we can, but we can’t make any statement(s) or promises as to how long this will take. Also, it must be clarified that at this juncture, we are not trying to upgrade our products to take advantage of all the new features in 2024, we are only trying to regain basic functionality so you may get back to enjoying your Blackbird / Shrike aircraft in the new simulator.
We will know more as we work through the issues.
Thanks for your patience.
The BBS team
