But what can be done about the problem? Quality takes time or increased manpower. Or both. To finish faster the addons would have to get much more expensive. And then the next round of community complains would start.
Some developers make an effort to get their products out of the door much faster than others and still come out with high fidelity addons. Quite often they also come with new previously unseen features and are sold at a fair/very good price to customers. I have bought some of these products myself and sometimes for around £30 or even occasionally lower.
āBut what can be done about the problem?ā you ask. I see the problem, such as you call it, as a lack of focus by a developer or perhaps a redirection of their resources to other areas of the business which may not even be gaming.
Not all developers do āgamingā exclusively and have to decide how to allocate their resources. They make their decisions as they think fit and rightly so. However, equally, they cannot complain if another developer takes advantage of their slow development process and beats them to the market. Sometimes the developer then decides to drop the product completely leaving them only with the costs incurred to date and no revenue.
In an ideal world a developer should aim to complete his project before somebody else comes out with a competing product. Whilst there is no such thing as an ideal world in real life it still makes sense to focus on it and get it out as soon as you can before the other guy.
This soooooooo annoys me. So many developers are so cavalier about proper setup of their filesā¦mistakes that are soooooo easy to get right.
Iām not talking about the quality of the product, I think it was a commercial flop, I just donāt think a lot of people bought it. MSFS has a lot of trainer aircraft and this is a expensive one.
They Huey would have had better reception had they managed to release it before Taog.
Not sure why youāre quoting me on this - who is mocking anyone, much less who am I mocking? I was making a light hearted joke that Iām highly interested in the SR-71 and would rather them update me on that than on his request. If anything Iām mocking myself, but I guess the āLOLā wasnāt enough. Maybe a /s next time. Or maybe I should manifest some outrage to fit in with your definition of ācommunityā?
Also I donāt speak for the ācommunityā, whatever that means. I speak for myself and only myself. Maybe I misunderstand your point, if there is one Iām not seeing it, other than you wanting to feel outraged on a rather benign comment?
You can have Toagās version, or you can also have the Blackbird version with the custom coded external flight model already in use by the military.
I think it had less to do with a saturation of trainers in the market & price (i think its priced fairly for what all they packed into it) and more so the whole announcement and roll out.
The T-6 being announced the next blackbird aircraft to release came out of left field as far as iām concerned and, while its a cool aircraft in its own right, i canāt imagine it wouldāve been many peopleās first choice to have up next especially when so many highly anticipated aircraft were already so far down the list. Its really just not a particularly popular aircraft. It definitely feels like it was a smaller interim project to appease the masses and the T-6 is a logical choice for that but I canāt help but think bumping up the T-38A in line (talon is a pretty simple aircraft and already very popular/anticipated) or simply continuing on as they had been wouldāve been better recieved.
The VERY rocky release the T-6 ended up having surely couldnāt have helped either. I know some people were put off it because of those bugs in the beginning
Of course releasing to console would bump sales. But with no developer enthusiasm to do so its dissuading those customers from waiting for it and purchasing the other versions instead.
Shame really as the many cross platform milsim groups are waiting for this for their pilot training programmes.
It did put me off. How is it now?
Perhaps some developers have more staff than others.
Miltech dont have a Huey
Yes, also possible
Really? This is a surprise. Didnāt see that one coming
Does this mean we now have two Hueys available to buy?
Thanks. My mistake, post deleted
I want to address the whole āquality vs time of developmentā discussion in this thread.
Its important to keep in mind that our Blackbird line of products is just one aspect of our company. We also have obligations in other various contracts such as military and others - some of these projects contractually obligate us to redirect some of our devās attention to.
Instead of shrugging and getting out whatever we have partially completed out the door, weād rather set the time aside to make a complete quality project. Yes, this means that the time of development can increase while we direct our manpower elsewhere (and we apologize & thank you guys for your patience). Weāre not a huge team at Blackbird, but we ARE huge fans of aviation and weād like the quality of our aircraft to reflect/ honour this.
Just a shame you donāt wish to share that enthusiasm for turbo prop trainers with the console community.
Iām pretty sure Blackbird likes having customers AND money and if the T-6 isnāt on Xbox, itās probably due to memory/performance challenges and not any lack of enthusiasm for selling it on consoleā¦
Just to let you know that Iām patiently sitting out in the rain and snow??? Dose it snow in Seattleā¦
Anyway Iām sitting at Seattle to be first in line to purchase a 737-200 straight off the lot and that checkbook has everything filled out but the amountā¦
So less time replying to those people who want a silly leaky environmentally unfriendly/noise pollution Mach 3 jet and more time building that slightly better environmentally friendly/slightly better noise pollution work of art classic that is the 732
Ah ⦠but this is half the fun.
Turn up the volume and blast those eardrums. Even better get a smoke machine. You definitely need some bass shakers too.
Trust me. You know it makes sense
