Just a few notes regarding the AvAngel report. Overall a good review, but there is cargo modelled. For some reason, when she pulled up the fuel setting, the options to load pilot weight and cargo weight did not show. Thus, she was unable to get it loaded and displaying. In all my testing of the V2 (hundreds of flight sim sessions over the past two months), once cargo was implemented in the design, I was able to add it. As Graham said, “weird”.
Noted
But anyone who’s watched AvAngel for any length of time knows that if you want in depth thorough reviews there are maybe better channels, if you want a fun turn’n’burn look that gives a good overall impression of how much fun something is to bomb around in, especially off piste, AvAngel is your goto ![]()
Yup… Go to Into the Blue Simulations for by-the-book in depth looks into an aircraft and to AvAngel for a quick off the cuff impression.
I like it, because how she does it is probably the way most simmers try out new aircraft. ![]()
Excellent choice. Into The Blue / Overkill to tell you about something, AvAngel to show you how much fun it is. Both are important but most reviews are so focused on getting it right that they forget the fun side - and I can only speak for myself but I’ve certainly bought more planes because they looked fun than because they looked study level ![]()
Honestly not a fan of her waffley reviews I know it’s her style, but it’s frustrating watching her fumble around looking for things.
That’s my fav Islander related video. I located that strip in the sim and tried that very landing. It’s great fun and a nice challenge at the same time.
Do you happen to have the name of the strip?
As far as I can gather from the comments on the YT page, it’s not a marked airport in MSFS but to find it you can start at….
2u5 Shearer is the airstrip south. North of this strip you will spot the green patch of land that resembles that of a blue whale.
…definitely giving this a bash in the Islander tonight!
Thanks, will give that a check tonight if the hospital let’s me go. Btw is the v2 live?
we will make an announcement when it is ![]()
Nope.
Good luck with hospital! Hope you’re doing OK man!!
Ah bummer. Perhaps i will wait with the flight til v2, and make it my first flight.
After flying the Trislanders the Islander has been on a hiatus as the Tri really put that older FM in stark contrast.
But once that V2 comes, oh boy.
All good (i think). Collapsed twice two nights ago for no obvious reason.
Yes it’s not somewhere you can spawn but there is a small strip close. I can’t remember off hand which one I used but you can find it if you follow that river.
That’s another aricraft with a vent on the top of the dash… I guess that was a mod at some point to allow for cooling for more nav gear, seems to show up on all sorts of different dash shapes ( https://www.aeroplanemarket.com/uploaded_files/ads_img/BTN-2A21-0643-N7049T-interior-cockpit.jpg including something somewht resembling ours - that one has a different overhead though and some quite large gauges )
Yep She seems to have the optional Tip Tanks installed, you can find the same transfer switches in the Trislander ( and the Upcoming Maritime Defender )
I’ve actually managed to get into a situation where I’ve had to use the Trislander transfer pumps too
much skipping around Scotland.
I’ve yet to find two Islander dashes that look the same, it’s amazing the variety of fits they have even if it’s just the size of the instruments.
Sorry to hear about your hospital visit. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayer!
Is that Selway Lodge? Here is a link to this airstrip download on flightsim.to.
