Blackbox MSFS2024 Britten Norman Islander

As already mentioned above, We are investigating with some urgency and will re issue V1.2 ASAP
We apologise for these issue But With respect they had all been tested prior to release ..

As for the accusations that we do not test the products, This is quite hurtful as we do put MANY Hours into this and take it very seriously ..

Sometimes However.. things get through and Will be fixed

@NightMercury358 thank you in advance for the update you are preparing. However, I would like to some extent eccho the previous comment made by militaerpolicep. Sorry to hear that it hurts your feelings when we doubt about your testing process but there are so many basic mistakes, bugs and approximations (mixed data from different models) with all your BN2 addons (previous and current) again and again. I mean, it took me 35 sec to find a free valid POH for the BN2-A-26/20 on the internet… and if you had really tested properly your first release you would have noticed that for example, at cruise, all your numbers were wrong… I don’t really now if you are the direct developer of the add-on or just a publisher who subcontracted a team to do it, but you really need a better quality control. I am sure plenty of us would love to beta test. Myself the first one ! I am a total geek when it comes to the BN2 due to my past close proximity with the aircraft. Let us help you

One final cosmetic remark, maybe to include in your upcoming update while you are at it: I personally prefered the way the airspeed indicator was designed for the MSFS 2020 model. I found it more readable.

Thanks.

I don’t have this yet, but are you saying that flap drag at the 2nd notch is too high?

Whats been said is that the Latest V1.1 FDE is faulty … and we are fixing it

Hopefully with measures in place so that doesn’t happen again.

Sorry, I was alluding to the fact that someone wished you had checked the plane before releasing it, you stated it was but something was missed, so the thing that was missed can be added to your list of things to test prior to a release so that it doesn’t get missed again. Accidents happen, but if they keep happening you have to look closely at your procedures.

Yess absolutely you can dive at minus think 4500ft per Minute at 80-90 knots speed with flaps 2 configuration. Even at flaps 1 when at 80-90 knots the whole aircraft nose is like 10 degree pointing to the sky. Despite of being completely not realistic just practically you are landing without having the runway in sight like in the concorde…

Hi @NightMercury358 trying to help here.

I installed the V 1.1.0 in msfs, but replaced only the engines.cfg and flight_model.cfg with the ones from V 1.0.0 as I found them more stable.

I noticed that in both flight_model.cfg (from V1 or V1.1) this setting: drag_coef_gear = was set to 0

Changing this value to anything else than 0 helps big time with the excessive rate of climb and the overpowered feeling, at least for the climb phase.

I hope this helps

Appreciate the input .. However as the Gear is in a Fixed Position and Not retractable, This parameter serves no real purpose as the main CD0 is in effect at all times.

Thanks though .. we are rebuilding the FDE at this moment

That stuff is described here:

https://docs.flightsimulator.com/msfs2024/html/7_Samples_Tutorials/Tutorials/Tuning_The_Flight_Model/Basic_Aerodynamics.htm?rhhlterm=drag_coef_gear&rhsearch=drag_coef_gear

So when we retract the Islander gear the drag of course changes

I received an update email from BBS a few hours ago and have downloaded and installed the new version (1.1.2. from memory?). Not had time to fly it yet, but had a quick look in the various cfg files at the parameters for brakes, flaps, props and thrust, and they seem to be more in line with what has been suggested in this thread. Fingers crossed it will also feel better once I load it into the sim.

Update: have now done a quick flight between those Orbx highland PNG bush strips, with 8 pax, and it feels OK to me on takeoff, climb and STOL touchdown (brakes). Think it’s pretty much fixed, or at least it’s good enough for me as a BN tragic but non-pilot. This is on top of passengers now properly loading and displaying, plus no more rego flicker. Pretty happy.

Glad to hear it .. and apologies for the earlier “cock up”
Sometimes things just happen

Again comparing numbers and perceived changes in the sim. Still not there yet fully in my opinion, and I have my doubts about the overall realism (which above all else is my highest prio), but the most obvious cock-ups as you call them have been fixed.

Many thanks for the quick reaction. Just a question do you have any idea when the update will be available on the marketplace?

Thx yesterday night CET it was not yet there. I will try later and or wait for Thursday! Thx mate and thx for the quick support.

As of today in the marcetplace it says version 1.1.0 from 27.10.2025. Parachuting Missions now work for me but only if I use the Mission progress Window. I did not found a switch in the cockpit that would let me switch on the signal for the parachutists to get ready or jump. But that is okay with me.
But I have found some other weird thing. There are no middel cargo missions for you company if you buy the version with the garmin in it. If you buy it with analog instruments missions are shown on the map. If you do not fly for your own company and filter for the BN-2 there are missions but I guess you will get the version with analog instruments too. Unsure if this is a bug in msfs2024 or the plane or both.
Last Question what type of Mission specialisation is “Special Ops”? Are these the yellow star missions like in tornado hunting? Did not find any for the BN-2 though.

I note that your website says “more liveries coming soon” for the 2024-native BN-2. We desperately need more Caribbean liveries (Anguilla Air Service, Cape Air, etc.), since that’s the region with the most operational frames.
