Sure, it’s “doable”… getting it on the backlog is the hard part.
And, yes, for some reason Asobo struggles with CG issues. My gosh I wish they’d remove the CG slider, what a stupid idea and concept.
Be that as it may, there’s sooooooo much potential for career mode, so many features they could add to aircraft that could make the sim sooo much fun. Sadly, it seems like Microsoft/Asobo can’t seem to justify putting any resources behind it. Maybe in a couple of years.
And, unfortunately, I don’t think they trust the userbase to be able to understand how CG works and how to load planes appropriately. Or maybe they can’t figure out a UI they feel is simple enough to use. I think it seems simple to those of us who understand the concept, unfortunately, we’re probably only 10% of the userbase.
Is there a list of known issues for the BN2P? I have noticed some quirks but assume they have already been reported/are being worked on. Does Blackbox have a place (Discord, etc.) where they discuss what is being fixed? (It’s pretty minor stuff like the display for Baro not actually matching the setting, ADF apparently not functional, etc.)
I’m keeping an eye out on this version since I absolutely love the 2020 islanders. Seeing as I have and fly all the 2020 variations in 2024, I’m hesitant to pay more money for a product that’s about the same. Does anyone know whether the 2024 version is still being updated/worked on at all?
I think we could argue the semantics of that all day. What does the native product offer than the non-native one doesn’t? If you want to argue that it’s not an upgrade then I would 100% agree, as there just aren’t enough differences over the 2020 one that I can see to justify it’s purchase. And yes, I have bought it.
A 2020 plane in 2024 is essentially running in compatibilty mode. The SDKs for the two sims are completely different; 2024 has an entirely different flight model and physics system, new sim variables, new surface interactions. I’m not sure how one would “prove” a plane is built from scratch so to speak, but as someone who flew the 2020 model extensively, the 2024 version is completely different (also having flown the 2020 version in 2024). So much so that the interior dimensions of the cockpit are completely different. I just could never connect with the 2024 version. I tried it again the other day and I get a weird fishbowl effect now, which I don’t remember the last time I tried it a few months ago. I could just never get comfortable with the interior dimensions of the 2024 model.
This aircraft hasn’t received much in the way of updates in a while so I’m not optimistic about this, but would love to see passenger variants to be made compatible with Career mode. Looking at the SDK I see no reason it couldn’t be part of a Charter company.
Has anyone else had an issue where the when you go full throttle, the MPs react as they should but the RPMs take about a week to spool up? It’s almost like it’s behaving like a turbine.
I suppose it’s possible as I fly it in the Caribbean, hot and humid (i.e. perfect conditions for carb ice). Manifold pressure reacts as expected, RPMs take a good7-10 seconds to reach full revs. Will try it with carb heat and report back butit also does the same on approach, RPMs seem to lag pretty significantly.
Definitely not carb ice, same performance no matter the environment, carb heat doesn’t even seem to drop MP anyway, so I’m not sure it’s doing anything, and no other pistons on the same controller profile have similar issues. When I apply full throttle it takes 8+ secods for the RPMs to reach full, it’s basicaly reacting like you would expect a turbine engine to act.
