Blurry Airport Ground Textures (DLSS Issue?) msfs-2024

I’ve noticed this issue in MSFS 2024 where the ground textures are pretty normal when the exterior view camera is closer to the ground but if you pan upwards, the ground textures get very blurry. I believe this to be a DLSS issue but not sure if there is a solution or if it is related to something else. I attached 2 photos with examples of what i’m talking about. I also considered whether this could be some kind of auto focus thing? I’m not really sure.

If I’m not mis-identifying this, it is a result of endless optimization, which limits the quality of airport ground textures at altitude for performance, controlled by either Object LOD. It is a tad aggressive.

It’s not a DLSS issue. This is simply how MSFS 2024 currently works - it’s by design.

Not long ago, I showed a comparison between TLOD 60 and TLOD 200 at the exact same altitude and with the same camera position. The difference in texture quality and overall detail was significant.

So in this case, don’t assume there is something wrong on your end or with your hardware. Asobo is still optimizing MSFS 2024.

Very interesting and I appreciate the response. If I think I’m reading it correctly you’re saying a higher TLOD may resolve this issue or is the difference negligible?

Not exactly. Increasing TLOD, for example from 200 to 400, won’t fix the texture rendering issue. That’s simply how MSFS 2024 behaves at the moment. Unfortunately, the sim is still affected by a number of bugs and this is one of them. We’ll have to wait for Asobo to improve the way textures are rendered in a future update.

You can always test it yourself to see whether increasing TLOD makes any difference on your setup. It’s easy enough to change the value and compare the results.

From my testing, TLOD does actually contribute to this texture issue.
