It could well be my eyes getting worse but it seems in the last 6 months or so the VR view is getting more and more out of focus. The cockpit is still ok but the stuff further away out of the windows is pretty terrible. Have there been any derogations to the graphics recently, its almost as if with every little update FS does it makes the view just a little bit worse. G2 Headset.
Its not my graphics settings as I have tried lots of different permutations and its just not as good as it used to be even recently.
PS if it is my eyes what sort of glasses might help to improve things, I use +3’s for close up stuff that wok brilliantly but if I use them in VR or even walking about everything is well out of focus.
For VR on G2 best results you need to use an interim prescription, same as the one for say computer usage, not your reading glasses as that will be too much and as you mentioned will lead to blurred vision. If you dont have an interim prescription you will have to ask your optician. Some people use their distance prescription but for me interims work best. I would also go for inserts rather than your normal glasses as its much more comfortable.
For reading I use a +2.5. For computer work for a monitor I use +1.25. That seems to work for me. My suggestion would be to try off the shelf readers at +1.5 for you. So 50% is usually what a Dr suggests for computer work.
Just on the off chance I’ve ordered a set of middle distance glasses off Amazon, only cheap ones but just to give me some idea of where the problem is. I suppose I should go and see an optician really for an eye test, I am 53 after all.
I think you might be right. MY glasses arrived today and as I didn’t really know what I was buying it turns out they were -2 strength, I assume thats the opposite of what I already had.
Using them made it seem like I was on LSD so they were useless but the interesting part is if I put both pairs on everything was pretty clear, even for walking round the house. they must cancel each other out and give me the equivalent of a 1x. So as they are so cheap I’ll try a pair of 1x from Amazon again.
absolutely get an eye test, it’s not very obviously especially if you’re newer to VR but due to how the lenses work you’re actually focusing 2-3 meters or so infront of you so if you need glasses to see distant things you might need them in VR, if you get an eyetest done you can get prescription inserts to use in VR which can make it much more comfortable
will also say things like DLSS really don’t scale well in VR imo, it just adds too much blurriness especially for cockpits, so if you’re using DLSS or maybe have your resolution scale low or anything like that, that’ll add to the blurriness too
Believe it or not I’ve had VR headsets since the CV1 rift, getting on for 10 years now nearly. It probably is my eyes but you just never know with Asobo, they’ve been dumbing it down steadily since they tried to get it working on the xbox so I wouldn’t be surprised if they reduce the resolution a little bit with every update.
Imagine ending up with milk bottle bottoms for glasses but it turns out it was just asobo messing with things.
Right, a +1 has made a dramatic difference to VR for me, so it was my eyes after all, quality is back to where is was about 12 months ago now, but as pointed out above glasses are a bit uncomfortable to wear behind the headset so I suppose to get the lenses I need a prescription.
