Blurry writing/gauges since SU5

Since SU5 some of the cockpit textures are blurry.

Examples of this are the numbers on some of the gauges on the Lear35, the speed placard near the gear lever and the text on the chronograph in the PMDG 737.

If you zoom in they become clear, only to become blurry again as you lean back.

Running a G2 on a high end PC

Are you using any kind of upscaling such as DLSS? Because text on gauges are only clear using TAA and DLSS makes them blurry unfortunately.

This isn’t a moving gauge issue. The text on a placard in the 737 cockpit (which is fixed writing and doesn’t change) is also blury.

I also tried TAA and it made no difference.

I’ve noticed this in several aircraft, such as the Magni gyroplane and the GotFriends AS 33 ME glider where, only in VR, some of the steam gauges are blurry, sometimes becoming clear and then degrading again. It started with the glider in SU4 and continues in SU5. It likely effects more aircraft than these. What causes it I have no idea, whether it is a coding problem with third party devs, or is an Asobo problem remains to be seen.

Pimax Crystal Super, 5800x3D, 4090, Win 11. TAA or DLSS makes no difference.

Could it be related to this regression that’s getting worse as the updates progress?

Looks similar, but it isn’t text disappearing, but going blurry.

strangely, I have flown the Lear 35 since it was released for MSFS2020 and never had an issue.

The problems only appear to have started after SU5

This is definitely linked to Foveated Rendering. If I disable FV, there is no blurryness on any gauges or writing. But, you lose performance, and strangely, the text on some displays is no longer as sharp as it was with FV selected.

same issue, have tried many settings… did not have the issue with included aircraft(Asobo 172), only addons(carenado).

All text/gauges start clear and then intermittently some will become blurry over a period of 10 seconds. Then may clear randomly, and fade to blurry again. Non-moving text and gauges.

very high-end, all updated

I found it was linked to foveated rendering, which I disabled, and it seemed to fix it

Yep, turning off foveated fixed, even upping it from 40, where i had it set, to 50 helped. There is a foveated setting in virtual desktop that I maxed as well, but i don’t believe that setting would apply to the Quest3, but jic.

Did turning off FOV work for an extended period of time? It didn’t make any real difference for me (Quest 3+Virtual Desktop)

I was running a foveated rendering of 40 with my reverb G2, but was having some really bad blurring on writing and gauges (especially the Lear 35).

Disabling foveated rendering fixed all the issues and surprisingly it didn’t seem to effect performance at all. I was only using foveated rendering because I had read that it can save 10-15 fps in vr, but disabling it made almost no difference on my computer (and the whole image being clear was such a godsend after months flying with a square box - especially in clouds)

OK thanks, I’ll play around with the settings, maybe i have FOV on in another app

I have this issue too. The weird thing is that it happens to some gauges / labels but not others.
