Boeing 707 as Famous Flyer 10!

It’s very good that older Boeings are at least coming, i have not flown any of the modern Boeings at all anymore ever sense what happened to them so the older Boeing aircraft are much appreciated here

Agreed. Why do they have to wreck all those interesting airplanes? The 707 does NOT deserve any treatment less than Just Flight level. But at this rate we will run out of classic airliners soon… Very bad decision. They should stick to simple, uncomplicated plywood and fabric flying machines for those lo-fi DLCs until the default vanilla systems will be brought up to a sensible level.

The 707 needs to be an excellent representation….No pressure then.

You are right. This already happened to DC-3 and ATR72. I just hope Just Flight will finish their 727 before Asobo has an idea :).

Yeah. These sort of releases are an area denial weapons that contaminate any aircraft they touch for the foreseable future and prevent a better version from appearing sometime in the future because whatever demand remains will not be enough to satisfy a study level development.

For god’s sake, 707 is a milestone of aviation! A haphazard model without customization, plausible systems and performance, without high quality sounds and ambience will be a blasphemy to this monument of history. We don’t need failures and working toilets (cough cough SWS PC-12). Just Flight’s F28 has nice visuals, sounds and realistic systems that make you actually feel like you’re in contact with marvel of technology from a bygone era, not a haphazard excuse of a dummy loosely based on one. I’d happily pay 69$ for a Fellowship-level 707 but I’m not spending a single penny on this.

The fact there are only 2 (!) 3rd party liveries for the Skyvan a WEEK after premiere should speak for itself as to the quality of the latest in-house releases.

I’m pretty sure even something like the cockpit lighting will be a total disaster that will totally break the immersion

Just gonna keep it at this…

I am really sorry that someone treated you like this. Although I do not yet own any aircraft for which you have done improvements, I always look forward to reading your posts. Fly On. Thanks. --Redeye

I will keep my expectations very very low on this and hopefully someone or a group with the passion will mod it (like the Boeing 307 mod) and fix / add any missing systems. I was waiting and hoping for a developer to do the 707 (my first pick would be Just Flight) so for now I’ll hope for the best from what we are given.

Maybe some excellent modders will perfect it and bring us a KC-135 as well?

The prerelease drama is over the top.

At least a fully manual dinosaur like the 707 should be easier to properly model than something with today’s complex systems. Or at least you’d have thought. I’m just excited to see a 707, since we’d be waiting literally years if someone were to launch the project tomorrow.

A for this statement…

Define ‘you lot’. That’s quite a blanket assertion. yes, some here no doubt moan just for the sake of it but there are many devs about whom the community often has legitimate concerns (PMDG’s handling of the Xbox liveries, for example, which was completely farcical).

I don’t own NixonRedgrave’s mod (heck, I don’t even own the aircraft in question) but I dare say there were probably better ways to describe it than as being solely “for rivet-counters”. Perhaps it is — and maybe you meant no real offence — however if it enhances the product in ANY way, it’s to the community’s benefit.

I’ll be buying it (presumably I’ll get the 30% discount, being a Premium Deluxe owner?) and my judgment will be reserved until such time I can properly put it through its paces. As long as the flight physics are decent (they don’t have to be 100% accurate) and it behaves similarly to a real 707, I’ll be happy.

Maybe I’m just a sucker at this point, but I’ll hold out some hope. I do really like some of AH’s addons, though admittedly it’s some of their simplest addons. Here’s to hoping this one isn’t a dud!

Angry?

I’m not in the least bit angry.

I’m pretty much the total opposite. I’m kind and helpful and thoughtful and circumspect and fair and empathetic.

But unlike the 707, I cannot be barrel rolled.

He’s the guy who made the AH Boeing 307 worth having installed. I don’t know him, but I’ve never seen him angry here, although I would be if someone had casually belittled the hard work I’d done like someone in this thread did.

Who are you?

Man… I really don’t want to be Mr. Negativity but I have little hope for this one.

I’m certainly not going to buy it until it’s thoroughly proven it’s well made, even at $10. I’m tired of buying addons that require community mods to work.

I’m not sure I see the argument, really. If you want something more study-level, you download mods kindly supplied by members of the community. And if you don’t want these mods, it’s highly likely you’ll be satisfied with the vanilla product, because you probably won’t be familiar enough with the plane or systems in general to notice anything awry. Unless of course it’s so terribly bad that it’s unflyable (but hopefully we’ll be talking higher fidelity than the likes of Bredok and Cap. Sim).

Problem where, in my view, there isn’t one.

Exactly this. If the plane in question isn’t for you, you needn’t buy it. Problem solved.

My hangar features a mix of study-level and non-study-level aircraft. And I find ways to enjoy them all.

They seemed to come across rather different than what you seemed to be implying. My bad if you were being thoughtful on the topic.

But thanks for what you do.

There are some people that just enjoy the planes as they are. Picking them up cheap, fly them around for a bit and then delete them. The Carenados have been great and really don’t need to be done any better because at the end of the day, they’re just old pistons. Like the other person said, some people like counting rivets. Can someone mod sitting in a freezing cold airplane waiting for the engine to come up to temp? Can they do bugs hitting the windshield working the pattern?

I’ll probably buy this 707 because as discussed else where, as it will be the only one probably to ever exist for the game. If someone mods it, great. But this plane will die the same fate as a lot of the old metal floating around the game. It’s a fact.

I’d love to have bird strikes, especially a fat Canadian Goose lol modeled, simulated AI lol.

Mine as well.

Oh no, I agree with you. If it’s awful hopefully the word gets out and no one buys it. I bought the Captain Sim 717 to see how bad it really can get. Probably no fixing that. But it’s fun to have the mix on the game for sure.

You fly what you want here bc gas is free. RP how you want too.
