I’ve just finished reading a book about true life stories of a North Atlantic ferry pilot, Kerry McCauley, and I can’t praise it enough.
Thrilling, honest, well written, and detailed enough to be interesting for any aviation fan.
I like that the author was not afraid to share even some of his more questionable and outright dangerous decisions. The book’s title is definitely spot on.
I stumbled on it while watching AOPA Air Safery Institute Youtube channel, there’s one whole reenacted episode of one of the book’s chapter. You might watch it here to know
what you are up to with this book: https://youtu.be/rt2TGjuwv_s
I saw this a while back and still can’t believe what he had to go through. Unbelievable. Makes me think twice about taking a prop over the Atlantic lol.
Very interesting and just shows how complacency and stupidity can seriously spoil your day.
Never should have set off with a bodged up pressurisation system.
Watching the video I am shouting at the screen …drop the pilot windscreen flap and duct tape the tube to the outside of the flap. Then close and duct tape the flap, the end of the tube will then be in the airflow outside.
