Bought - can't install

Help please!
I bought the game from Microsoft Store. When I try to install I am told that my account does not have appropriate devices to install the game. However, in my account profile I can see my desktop in the devices tag that is strong enough to handle the game (Win10, i5, GTX770, 16GB etc.)
Has anyone faced this issue?
Can anyone offer any advice?

I can’t offer any suggestions about the actual issue, but I’d suggest getting a ticket into ZenDesk as soon as you can, so that you’ve got yourself in the queue while you troubleshoot it.

If you login to this link: https://account.microsoft.com/devices/content - Can you see your PC listed?

I don’t know if this may help, but in my experience a rule of thumb before attempting any installation would be 1) Run Windows Update and make sure there are no updates pending and 2) Make sure the drive you want to install the game has PLENTY of space available (by plenty I mean way over 129 Gb available). Good luck.

Yes, I can see my PC in the link.
Thank you for your reply, I 'll try ZenDesk.
Do you think it will be easier if I just ask for a refund and buy the game through Steam?

Thanks, I updated Win last night and have more than 500GB available.
It’s just Microsoft being difficult…

That might be easier since Steam will install the client for you, and then you can get on with the download.

Hi There

You have to be shure, that you have

  1. Win 10 2004 ! installed and that the
  2. MS account of your STORE matches the one of you
  3. PC login ( login with you MS account )

goodluck

This may or may not be the solution but when I bought it on the ms store (in a browser) I got the same weird issue. Just before giving up I tried opening the Microsoft store app (the one locally on my machine) and going to the “ready to download” section. For whatever reason it gave me no issues in that ms store but wasn’t having anything to do with the browser ms store

Thank you, I think I have a problem there.

(1) is OK, but (2) I don’t understand what you mean. I purchased the game from my account (with my registered credit card) and I also got a receipt in my registered e-mail.

As for (3) I don’t know what you mean…? I log in with my local account but this shouldn’t interfere with the purchase which I did through my MS account…?

Bingo!

That was it! I’m downloading the sim (!) along with some other stuff (Visual C+, Direct X Runtime and Gaming Services - do I need these…?)

THANKS!

good to hear

did you follow my procedure ? or what made the trick ?

It was AromaticGenie50’s idea. I did it through the MS Store App instead of the browser…

It downloaded the Sim which was 998MB. It doesn’t sound right…?
I’ll try it when I get home - I am loging in remotely…

After that 998MB you have FS2020 in Start menu. Launch that and the rest of the sim will be downloaded.

Thanks!
I launched it and the process started. However, at the beginning it said that my PC doesn’t meet the minimum requirements and I may get errors. But my PC is i5-4670, Nvidia GTX 770 (2GB) and 16GB RAM with 550GB free in my SSD. Shouldn’t that be enough?

It is probably about GTX770 which is several generations behind. Also 2GB of VRAM is quite little amount for modern games specially flight sims. It should be enough to fly at low rendering settings though. I personally have GTX980 with 3GB and need to resort to medium settings (second tier out of four available). So if budget allows, I would recommend looking for better GPU. Have a look at this site for information about relative performance of the graphics cards:

Your current card relative to others are shown here:

As you can see, GTX770 scores 5938 whereas the fastest 2080Ti scores 21545.

Also look at here for direct FS2020 benchmarking on various hardware options (here the GTX780 is included as one of the low-end cards):

The truth is it is old, bought it in 2015. The problem is I’ll have to find a card to match with the motherboard. I think with ~$400 I should be OK.
In the mean time, the screen is stuck at looking for updates almost 30 mins now…

Very useful web-sites, thanks!

Check on the Task Manager to see if there is any network traffic. Also you can terminate the process and try again. If nothing else, then you can reset the data (under Windows Settings/Apps/FS2020) and re-download

Thanks for your help, it is now downloading (not the fastest internet connection…) but it will get there eventually.

Regarding my set-up, obviously I have to upgrade my GTX 770. One question that is not addressed in the helpful related websites is how far I can go with my i5-4670? Does it limit my options? I mean, if I get a very advanced GPU, will the processor be able to get the most out of it?

Again that Toms Hardware article should provide the answers. Bottom line - if you stick to 1080p resolution then anything over RTX2060 will not be useful - the card would simply sit idling while CPU is calculating the next batch of tasks. Regarding the CPU, I guess it is decent and there is no immediate need to replace or upgrade it. I also have i7-4770K and see no reason yet.

Thanks a lot for your help and advice. I’ll start playing around and depending on my needs I’ll see what I’ll do!
