I bought a Premium Deluxe version on Steam and also bought some addons… but since then I bought an Xbox Series X and I am hyped a lot about the Xbox release.
It really sucks that these purchases won’t be available to me on Xbox. The thought of buying the title and addons again kills me. I hope our addons at least are transferable but I doubt it.
I sort of expected to be able to transfer anything I bought in the Marketplace to Xbox if I bought one - Seeing that the promo is in 4K and my PC as it sits can’t do that, I would be motivated to try the Xbox-X - but only if I didn’t have to buy the stuff I already own ‘in game’
That’s the only reason I bought anything in the Marketplace at all
You can also use keyboard and mouse, and there are already joysticks and rudder pedals for the Xbox. An Xbox controller actually works quite well in it’s basic versions.
I can see why they have the core sim only as “play anywhere” on their own platform - on steam it would probably be too open to abuse, because the only way I can see it working is giving all steam purchasers a microsoft store key too… people would just end up giving/selling other users their microsoft store key.
However it’s definitely a shame that DLC purchases on the official store can’t be carried over from steam, doesn’t seem like that would have the same issues but I guess there must be some complication that we aren’t aware of!
Hmm okay, but filling in a flight plan, or using the FMC… gonna be fiddly I suppose without a mouse or keyboard… or how to control the knobs and buttons in the cockpit? It’s not my problem… don’t have one… just wondering if in general people know what they’re buying if they go for MSFS on xbox. Even the simplest plane isn’t that easy…
I’m sorry to hear that you’re bummed, but honestly, you can’t exactly expect to get a copy of the game on Xbox after you decided to buy the game from another vendor.
A lot of the money for that purchase went to Valve, not Microsoft.
Lesson learned: if you want a game both on PC and Xbox, buy it directly from Microsoft. They’re already doing better than any other first-parties.
If you buy a PlayStation game and want it on PC when it releases, you have to pay twice. Period. You don’t get a choice.
I’m sorry, but there’s nothing ridiculous here. You can’t demand something extra from Microsoft after you freely opted to buy the sim from someone else.
edit: nevermind the part about add-ons on the marketplace. According to the FAQ that might have been wrong. Main point still stands.
Will my Marketplace purchases carry over to the Xbox version?
Microsoft Flight Simulator will be updated on all available platforms to feature cross-save timed with its launch on Xbox Series X|S, allowing players to transfer DLC that was produced by Microsoft/Asobo and progress over to whichever platform they prefer. DLC produced by third party developers might be transferable, but that is a decision made by each third party development team. DLC purchased on a Steam version will not work on Xbox.)
Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but this seems to say that MS/Asobo purchases through the marketplace WILL carry over [from PC STORE VERSION to XBOX], other devs uncertain on a dev by dev basis.
However, the last sentence says: “DLC purchased on a Steam version will not work on Xbox” which seems to say that marketplace purchases (unless there is some other DLC they are referring to) purchased with a Steam version WILL NOT carry over [from STEAM to XBOX]
As above - in the section about transferability of marketplace items, under the header of “will my marketplace purchases carry over to the Xbox version” the FAQ states DLC bought on steam will not work on Xbox.
Umh, I see, I hadn’t seen that FAQ. So when you purchase something on the Steam version, do you actually pay via Steam? I was of the impression that you paid via Xbox Live, but if you pay via Steam, that’d make sense.
As far as I know you buy flight simulator credits on steam and then use those to purchase from the marketplace, but billing itself is handled by steam.
I get that a percentage of the purchase I made on Steam went to Valve, so how about MS sell an upgrade license for that amount which then enables the Xbox account which I authenticate with on Xbox live when running my Steam version run it on my xbox? Valve get their money, MS get theirs and surely everybody (including me) would be happy. As far as I can see, Steam plays no part in the execution or authentication of my current system - it just seems to be a launcher which hands off to xbox live?
