I got my Bravo yesterday and have been getting it set up, which has been more difficult than expected as it seems all axis need to be mapped instead of just fixing the throttle 2 bug.
More so because the useful videos so far all seem to be out of date now as some of the axis names have changed, and things like the prop lever axis no longer have a visible slider to see. The axis is also named + or - depending on whether you advance the lever forwards or backwards.
I’ve got it mostly set up now though but am wondering if I’ve missed something or am just seeing another bug.
With the props, I’m finding the throttle moves nicely through the whole range (now that its mapped to axis not axis -100 to 100) but my prop and mixture levers are not moving through the range at all, they only seem to have a min or max setting and jump from one to the other.
The Prop assignment only has a single option for Prop Axis so I think it must be set up correctly, but when I move the lever I only seem to get 2 settings and no travel through the actual axis. If I move the prop levers with the mouse I can slide them through the whole range available but nothing I do with the Bravo levers does anything like that. Mixture lever appears to be the same, either I get a cutoff setting, roughly 50% setting or max setting, there is no movement in between.
Have I missed something?
It sounds like somehow you’ve mapped them to buttons rather than axes. When mapping, you can select axes on the left I think to only show axes for making. Make sure you’ve mapped them to one of those. Did you look at rmag’s videos?
Definitely 110% mapped to axis.
Prop levers are assigned to ‘Propeller Axis’ (the only option - Also not possible anymore to reverse axis nor to view the axis slider). Mixture is assigned to ‘Mixture -100 to 100’ axis.
Yup, have all his videos saved, unfortunately the assignments and axis have changed since he did his videos so they are sadly a bit more limited in use now.
OK, so here’s what I see, its definitely not the same and the axis names are not the same.
Here is what I see with the Prop Axis. No reverse option, and no visible slider. The axis is names with a + or - at the end. I found out that dragging the lever forward produces the + axis and moving it backwards brings up the - axis. This seems to be the way to reverse the axis, by using the - version.
Note the filter is set to all. Clearing the mappings does nothing I get no other options for Prop or Mixture Axis, just what I’ve already assigned.
I’m wondering if the axis assignments changed in a recent update because I am definitely not seeing what’s on the various vidoes on how to set up the Bravo.
I’m not in the sim just now, but will double check later and post what I have here. When you select the axis you should get the slider and the reverse lotion so don’t know what’s going on
Interestingly, I just set up my single Piston profile with just a throttle and mixture lever, and lo and behold the Mixture Axis appears normally, with a reverse axis option and in cockpit actually moves through the whole axis with the lever as it should.
Some success, got the mixture lever to behave. Found out by accident that if I push the lever most of the way forward then go to assign it, then I get the proper Axis with the reverse option and the slider even with the prop axis assigned.
Still absolutely nothing I can do with the Prop axis though. Nothing I do will change it from how it appears above. No reverse option, no slider. And in cockpit moving the Prop lever gives me only 50% or 100%, nothing else.
There is at least one other thread with some feedback about the Honeycomb Bravo setup.
“Out the box” defaults in game appear to be a mess and unbind all/re-bind seems to be the best method.
No documentation exists so far (I’ve asked zendesk for documentation of what in game settings functionalities are they said “ask the community” shockingly useless.)
Of the 2 cell columns…binding an axis to a cell on the right seems to split the axis 50/50 might be good for reverse thrust type things?
My own Virpil CM3 doesn’t have enough physical throw to make this a comfortable option so I haven’t played with it for a while.
Throttle and mix do appear to have at least 2 axis bind options. These also inhibit range or split positive/negative.
Combinations of both might achieve interesting functionality but it is hard to know what their design idea was or whether this is simply support for specific manufacturers devices in the absence of any documentation or useful support desk.
My problem was that I had left some of the default bindings from the default profile, which caused my profiles to become completely borked.
I deleted all my profiles. Went back to the default one and erased all the axis assignments.
Then when I went to re-assign them each axis appeared properly with the reverse option and slider, even the Prop axis.
Went into cockpit and confirmed now all levers have a full range of motion.
Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.
For anyone else who has a new Bravo - Before you do create any profiles, take the default profile and erase every single axis assignment before you do anything. For some reason now the default profile is completely screwed.
Thanks again man for helping find the answer.
I had the same issue - only resolved when I deleted all throttle properties assigned to the keyboard first then deleted the axes assigned to the bravo and reassigned them now works as it should
