Finally got the patch downloaded and made a flight with clouds enabled after so long. We did it! This two-month journey filled with disappointment, frustration and some cautious optimism is now over.
Many thanks to @BlueAlbatros for creating and promoting this thread around, helping it get started and reach 406 votes, place #14 on the Feedback Snapshot. Wow! And of course, my thanks to everyone who helped gather relevant information, sent Zendesk reports, raised awareness on the issue, and supported each other through this difficult time. A small victory for those of us patiently chugging along with older graphics cards.
Finally, thanks to Asobo for restoring the simulator to its former glory. While I wish this would have been handled better, in the end they proved that they do listen, even to a minority of the userbase, and with several others opposing a fix to this problem. My respect for them is now mostly restored.
And to those who denied the issue and told us to throw our ancient graphics cards in the trash:
Once again I am having fun with my “garbage” system as you can see this fresh screenshot. And it shall remain that way until the pandemic starts fading away, hardware supply levels improve, and I can finally finish building my shiny new rig.
See you in the clouds!
