If you think you need heat in “normal” Ambient temperatures then apply it for a few seconds and then turn it off again to start up.
If ts Freezing outside ( and the needles are well into the yellow band) Use a little heat anyway
In “icing conditions” Temperature, Precipitation, Hi Humidly, Fog, Mist or cloud Its good practice to apply a little heat every 10 - 15 minutes … Its a Good habit that wont jump up and bite you on approach.
ALSO note … the BN2 Heaters are very powerful …
it can be detrimental to leave them on or use too much for too long…
yes…I humbly accept all this. Just replicated a similar event where I ‘lost’ power on approach… turned on CH and voila! OK
thanks for explaining and I won’t get caught again!!
Don’t forget to cycle through all the engines regularily… after a while you tend to pick up there might be an icing issue just because something feels a bit off.
Yep, had carbicing on final two days ago. Zero icing the whole way but it crept in during decent and since i was in a low power state i didn’t hear it either.
Lemme tell you, when i needed to add a bit lf power and the carbs were like, naaahh we’re cold boss, we don’t wanna work. I never flipped the carb heat faster.
That was super hairy. So now, when i am close to the yellow arc i’ll pop some heat a few NM to go.
they are a pretty standard MSFS assignment so I do not see anything to prevent it
just doing some diggin but I “think” they are under A:ENG ANTI ICE:1, 2, and 3 if that helps ?
I tried this, but no matter what I choose (set or toggle anti-ice individual engines or grouped etc…), it continues to send the signal when switched on, thus exciting the switch with accompanying sound. Not sure there is an option to counter that (I chose select on press not select on release)…
I wonder if the DME will work in this aircraft on XBOX??? As it doesn’t work in any of their (BlackBox Simulations) other aircraft (on XBox)!!! And yes I have them all…
Even though other developers have got the same DME unit to work…… and if there is one thing the HJet has shown me (on XBox) that some developers need to stop making excuses.
It’s a fun one! It’s more than an Islander with another engine. Just remember to flip the battery isolation switch (under the generator switches) up before you try to start the engines.
