Broken sale content

So I took an advantage of the sale after thanksgiving for the Xbox series X. I tried all of the content and immediately the game crashed. I went through the typical steps of deleting all content, then base game. I then reset my console installed the base game with mandatory updates. I then installed the world updates in which I fly the original content that I had And the Sim worked fine. I incrementally installed each DLC, and with each one it crashed my Sim. I contacted Xbox support and they referred me to Asobo, Which I contacted twice and have yet to hear back. That is $60 of wasted content that I cannot use and wish I would’ve gotten something different. Again, I literally have content sitting in my deleted content not being used just so I can fly in this simulator.

Hello @THEEUG7

Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to the #gd-commsupport:tech-talk subcategory of General Discussion & Community Support. The General Discussion category is meant for discussions that fall outside of our other sub-categories.

Please check out these other categories for your future posts:

  • Aircraft
is where you discuss current or future planes coming to MSFS.
  • World
is where you discuss scenery, airports, and weather.
  • Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
is where you ask for help with flying.
  • Tech Talk
is where you discuss graphics, drivers, performance, CTDs, and hardware.
  • Menus & Activities
is where you discuss activities (landing challenges, bush trips, etc), plus anything accessed by the menus including the Marketplace, settings, logbook, cameras, etc.

What content did you buy? Sadly the state of the Sim on Xbox is abysmally inconsistent at best.

I also bought multiple items on sale and have had much slower load times and frequent CTDs.

Kodiak 100 wheels. Already had floats
Wendel Williams 44
KSEA Seattle Tacoma international
New York City Times
DHC-2 GT Liveries
FA-18 VF 31 Liveries with Drop Tanks
C162

I think that was it……

I reached out to the sim support staff and still nothing

An interesting development. I cannot get a refund for the unusable content as it has to be refunded by Xbox. Now in the market the items are all listed as a dollar value. But when you purchase them it shows up as a sim credit purchase. Xbox won’t refund a sim credit purchase as it shows that it was just store credits purchased NOT actual game content that was purchased. Looks like I gave the sim a nice donation for the holidays.

How are they still getting away with this, especially in the USA !!!

No receipt showing what has been purchased, and for how much, - no wonder you cannot get a refund – a refund for WHAT ??

Would purchasing using a Credit card provide any protection, and chances of getting your money refunded, through the Credit Card company .

Slowness of product updates aside, the above is probably the main reason I will no longer buy anything through the MS-Store.

It’s absolutely absurd, especially given how unacceptably unstable the sim is on Xbox.

My question is what the opinions are of the CMs or folks like Jorg - do they get how bad this is and their hands are tied, or are they ok with this too? It’s against the entire spirit of the sim, so I don’t get it.

I know this is an X-box Thread, but bear in mind, its just as unstable on a PC (maybe even more so), so all the above post really apply equally well for PC users when they buy on the MS-Store/Marketplace.

Update, after finding out that others have indeed been able to receive a refund for broken content I reached out to Xbox Support again and again asked for help. They put me on hold and found a way to request a refund specifically for content for the sim. The lady on the phone was familiar with the way the market works and walked me through the steps on the phone. Very helpful, so fingers crossed

FINAL UPDATE: 2 support requests to Asobo, 1 to MSFS support, 3 separate types of refund requests to Xbox with 3 long email threads, and 5 calls to Xbox Support. Have now resulted in a full refund.
What to Know. Xbox can only issue a set amount of refunds per year. If you redeem any gift cards from Microsoft Rewards they show as refunds. Keep this in mind prior to asking for one.
Xbox phone support, while taking 5 calls, was actually helpful in pointing me in the right direction and I had to press for an exemption given that I have been an Xbox customer since the original Xbox and OG Xbox Live.
Sad it took that to get the full refund but it happened.
Anyone on Xbox I highly recommend you research your purchases prior to hitting the buy button.
Cheers all and happy holidays

Wow. Just wow. If that’s not a good reason to avoid the marketplace as a console user, I’m not sure what is. I’m glad you got a full refund though!
