BRSim ERCO Ercoupe 415C

Hi

Couple of questions.

How do you open the windows?

Also I installed the tiger mod how do you use autopilot with keyboard

Cheers
Z

Open up your Options/Controls/Keyboard and look at the bindings for the Autopilot

If you have the latest version of the plane, the windows do not open any more.

Thank you I hope he updates it for 2024

Same, I am hopeful because he just released the Grumman Tiger so he is still very much active.

Hello, soon you will get the Update 1.4.0.

Here is the changelog.

Important: Please remove the previous version from your community folder before installing this version.

This addon is now compatible with MSFS2024.

  • Added better compatibility with MSFS2024
  • Added new and authentic Wwise sound pack
  • Added new tablet design with more options
  • Added new fuel valve knob
  • Added collision geometry for the interior
  • Added collision geometry for the exterior
  • Fixed gauge graphics colors
  • Fixed landing gear height
  • Removed unnecessary LOD_0 model
  • Removed unnecessary fuel valve switch

Removed "New Release: " from the title (original post is from 2022) and added tags for searchability.

A great update, thank you BRSim! Just one bug to report:

In MSFS2024, the co-pilot figure’s right arm and both legs extend through the fuselage. The figure is in the standing position rather than seated.

Awesome update! Thank you. I’m curious especially with the new soundpack, could it be made possible to open/remote the canopy windows? I’d love to fly this one in the open air!

Yep, found lots of discussions about flying Ercoupes with the canopy open. (Including discussions of a canopy that decided to depart in-flight at 10,000 feet! That would be a fun random failure to introduce.)

At the moment I am working on an update for another addon, but as soon as I can I will work on the next update that will include these features.

I own your B33/35 and H35, may I ask if you will eventually update those to 2024 compatibility?

thank you for doing the work and maintenance follow through on these aircraft projects - it is appreciated !

You’ll soon receive update 1.5.0.

This update allows you to open the canopy, but due to geometric limitations,
it doesn’t have a transition; it simply switches from open to closed and vice versa.

The canopy affects the engine’s sound insulation, but apparently the
RTPC “INTERACTIVE_POINT_OPEN_2” isn’t working, so only the left canopy state affects the cockpit’s sound insulation.

Would there be any consideration to reevaluating the proportions of the aircraft overall? Notably the canopy is much too long compared to the real aircraft.

Here’s my take, FWIW.

Low-time PP and have never flown a ‘coupe. However, if I can transition to ownership, it absolutely will be a ‘coupe (or one of the variants).

I’ve logged easily 500+ (probably closer to 1000) hours in sim coupes, including the freeware version in XP. We (the community and I) tweaked this version extensively including one member’s reworking of the airfoils to the NACA specs used.

The Good

-3D work and detail is amazing and beautiful liveries available, not to mention the repaints available here. 5 stars

-Docile, predicable, and stable. IMHO, the perfect trainer and/or general purpose 2 seater. 5 stars

-Realistic upgrades including dual comm, strobes, beacons, and landing lights. 5 stars

The Bad

Extremely optimistic climb performance. I’ve made some tweaks, but still. 3.5 stars

Extremely optimistic glide performance. (see above) 3.5 stars

Perpetual motion roll. Unsure how to fix this other than apply brakes. 3 stars

Fuel Tank Capacity/Priority. Most planes have two 9 gallon wing tanks which simultaneously feed the 6 gallon header via an engine driven (no electrical) pump. The header gravity feeds the engine. I corrected the capacity but can’t figure out how to change the priority. The header should stay full until the wing tanks are exhausted. As is, fuel is burned from all tanks simultaneously. The easy fix is to manually top off the header during flight. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. 3 stars

To address other concerns:

Some note the canopy dimensions are slightly off. To me, the canopy is closer to the Alon/Forney design, matters not, and seems nit-picky.

Landing: in light wind, trim her for 65 KIAS (remember carb heat) and glide her down with throttle. She likes touching down below 60 but can actually be landed at cruise speed. Trim lever handle will be around 7 o’clock.

Crosswind Landings: there are reports of pilots making 40 kt. crosswind landings in these birds. It takes some flying, but I just landed her 3x with a direct x-wind at that speed. The only thing is she doesn’t weathervane on the ground as IRL.

Would I try this IRL? Nope. I wouldn’t even be flying in winds that strong.

Conclusion

Love this bird, even more after a few tweaks. If the developer can at least address the climb/glide concerns and the tank priority issue, 5 stars. I have no issue with the canopy dimensions and, although annoying, I can tap the brakes. Otherwise, a solid 4 stars.

Cheers!

With Tigers mod this is a joy to fly.

I can’t seen to find this Mod anywhere now? Link please?

It’s in the file library at sim-outhouse.org, you’ll need to register as a member to download it:
