I am considering a budget build with i7 12700K along with RTX3070 and a 2K monitor. Any thoughts? I am happy even if I get 45FPS with most settings at ultra.
Essential to have an SSD, pref 1GB or more, as your main hard drive. Ncle drive would be better but I wouldn’t call it budget and you need to ensure your motherboard can take it.
Also lots and lots of RAM - 16GB absolute minimum but more is better.
Then you need to consider what type of controller you’re going to use.
Just upgraded my system, it’s just a little below that and I get 50fps with everything on ultra.

I am accounting for 1Tb SSD, 32 Gb RAM @3200 MHz and Mobo to go with it.
why not ?.. its a good avg. system you plan to create ( “budget” can be much lower specs ) and should sufficent for WQHD. With upcoming optimizations and new technics ( like dlss ) you get also more headroom. Some special performance traps related to msfs can also better hardware not fix ( currenlty ) and we hope for more ongoing optimizations.
PS:: and yes, I recommend 32GIG RAM too
